It's IMO how his career will go.

Highly doubt he sees the field nearly as much as Fox did. No offense to Martini, but he's going to be up against a MUCH better crop of competition than Fox was. He doesn't have the luxury of being compared to a Calabrese.

I'm guessing Martini is a special teams stalwart and that's it. His tape didn't impress me that much. To be careful, I'm rooting for all of our players, I hope nothing more than each player makes huge gains and is able to compete for the two deep but I don't know where Martini fits in this defense and I don't know if he fits anywhere better than the other 80+ on the roster.

That's fair and seems to be the consensus for Martini. He was an early commit in the class and didn't draw the headlines or discussion that most recruits do. I had the opportunity to see him in person during the USA vs. Canada game and he was the best player on the field. That field included Hayes and Sykes. He was also voted captain for the game by his peers which means he earned the respect of his teammates and coaches in a short amount of time.

As for his PT...that's tough to project. He's a MLB in a 4-3 with one of the best in the country (Morgan) coming in the same class as him. My point was that MLB isn't necessarily a need in this class with guys like Morgan and Martini about to begin their careers. I believe the staff still wants to bring one in, but if our three LB recruits end up being better on the outside, we will be fine.

Video interview up on rivals said Michigan and ND running in front. BVG likes him at will LB. Will decide probably before the season starts.

"Plus he was just 180 pounds as a sophomore," Kirschner said. "He needed to get bigger and stronger. He benches 350 pounds so he's a real strong kid. He needed to take some time to physically develop."

Didn't realize how light he was playing at (says he's 205 now). If he can get his weight up, he'll be wrecking people with that athleticism.

Thats the one knock on him is his frame. Some question whether he can actually get the weight on his frame. He may never get to 240 but at 225-235 I think he could be a very good will LB in BVG's scheme. Take over for Jaylon when he departs.

Funny thing that Ben Davis HS. Huge school. Word is that they did their graduation one year in the old Hooiser Dome (RCA Dome now?). They had a deathlock on the Indiana HS state championship game for the longest time. I recall going to the game my junior or senior year to watch and they guys were just huge. Looked like thugs. The DBs had purple dorags and looked like they were 20 years old. Absolutely manhandled the team they played that year.

I knew a guy in college that played DT for Warren Central, a rival Indy HS. Said BD was the dirtiest school to play against. Said the running backs had metal cleats! He showed me his hand here he had a inch or so scar on the top of his hand between the thumb and the index finger where he said the running back stepped on his hand during their game together. Said the BD coach was crazy as a loon. Made it a tradition to go to the home teams field the night before, walk the field and piss in the endzone. Not sure if that coach is still there or if that is/was even true. Came from the same Warren Central guy.

How far back are we talking? That sounds like Dullegan when he coached there. He's been gone for quite a while. He was a heck of a coach. Had Carmel winning state titles and left to be an assistant at Purdue. Came back to Indy and got BD rolling. They had some great battles with Warren.

Pretty sure they were not talking about Dick Dullaghan. He may be the "tough guy old school" type, but he's no whack job. I know his family, and everyone in the hood called him uncle Dick. I'm not related, but his nephew and I grew up together. it's just how the neighborhood Italians roll as he was married to one of my aunt's husbands cousins LOL...

This would have been 91-92 times. Was my freshman year in college so the guy playing would have graduated 91.

Honestly, if he's as strong as he is at his age and 205 lbs, anything over 220 should be gravy. I like big LBs as much as the next guy, but I prefer speed and length at 220 over a banger at 240. I just glanced at the LSU roster, and they've got juniors still under 210, but we all know how good their D can be.

Long story short, land Bilal and see how he matures. He can play.

Absolutely. Telvin Smith (FSU LB) was one of the best in the country this past season at 6-3, 218. Ryan Shazier with OSU is 6-2, 228 and was the 15th player taken in draft. In today's game speed is a greater asset than size at LB. Ideally you'd have both but players like that are rare. BVG had a lot of success at UGA with small, fast LB's who could make plays.

Especially with all the spread-oriented teams they're facing in the ACC, they'll need speed backers more than ever.

idk seems like he's the last dude we need to have a part of the class that will take pressure off of us going into the season.

if that makes sense.

Expected to be in Ann Arbor for Michigan's BBQ this weekend.

Oh God. That environment is the pressure cooker of all pressure cookers when it comes to Michigan recruiting. They regularly pull rabbits out of a hat at that event and push kids to commit. Honestly worried about this one.

Michigan and ND are in the lead pack. Look for his recruitment to wrap up before the season. He doesn't have a relationship with any michigan players but knows a few ND players.

Hard to believe he doesn't have a relationship with UM commit, Darrin Kirkland. They play the same position in the same HS conference.

Thankfully, Bilal and Tiassum played together at Ben Davis before Tiassum left for Park Tudor.

Per Loy who just confirmed with Bilal, he isn't visiting Michigan this weekend.
