Damn, I said while Sanders was balling out that it was definitely making Ryan less of a want but I didn't expect this. In all honesty I would never want a kid that's afraid of competition.

You are never wrong on that bro. It is disappointing news though. All in on ESB!

Yea it's always disappointing watching high quality recruits go elsewhere but I will say that Sanders might just be the better prospect. I'll hold off on saying that yet but the gap is much much closer than some (including myself) may have thought.

almost identical height/weight/speed with CJ... Always good to have 2 of any good thing, but very very happy with CJ. I'd like to get another big bodied guy. Hopefully ESB.

Definitely. That SPARQ performance and 7 on 7 changed the game a little. Sanders is the real deal!

I think he may be a kid that ND cut off bc of limited #s in the class, so no point in wasting the kid and NDs time in a recruitment. '15 is a year where scholarships are at a premium and taking 2 undersized slot WRs doesnt make a lot of sense with it being a deep class on the defensive side of the ball and still in it with a few elite kids on offense that arent 5'8.

no way a kid posts this unless ND has told him they are no longer considering him

Odd though that he would thank BK/ND if they pulled the offer.

Not if it was done with respect ... "Hey we want you, you're a great player, but with the moves we made in the spring, the guys we have committed, and the focus on defense, ND just doesn't have a scholarship at this moment ... We can still recruit you if something changes but we don't want to impede your decision by leaving you hanging until then" type of deal

And they should continue to recruit him, because nothing is ever guaranteed...

I love the quick "Sanders is better then Newsome anyway" narratives. Along with the "he's afraid of competition" narrative.

Doesn't like the weather? I guess he already knows he'll never make it to the NFL. Good luck to the young man.

I love the reactions that occur when a highly-regarded/valued recruit drops ND.

(And yes, I've been guilty of an overreaction or false-justification myself)

I'm pretty surprised he dropped us this early. Wasn't this the kid whose mom wouldn't let him come here alone because she was afraid that he would commit on the spot? The fact that he mentioned Sanders means to me that he'd rather go to an emptier depth chart. To say he's afraid of competition may be wrong but it may have a little bit of truth to it.

"CJ Sanders is legit. I wont play."

In all honesty I would never want a kid that's afraid of competition.

Agree. Go to Michigan

Doesn't like the weather? I guess he already knows he'll never make it to the NFL. Good luck to the young man.

It doesn't always have to be this dramatic fellas. There doesn't need to be some big, overarching thing like "afraid of competition" or "he's not considering the future." Maybe it's exactly what he said? That ND already has a "Newsome" committed, simple as that.

Yep. I'm personally convinced the less you know about recruiting these days, the more you know.

I'm just looking forward to the season at this point. We're going to have a lot of momentum, starting with stomping of Michigan on prime time.

Or..I'd advise reading what TP said and think more along those lines. TP could've been dropped a hint or since he is a guy "in the know" and having had many interactions with those close to ND, it could've been more as he stated.

Yeah that makes more sense. Not sure how I missed that post. Did he just recently not become a take? oh well, I'm happy with Sanders and I wish Newsome the best. Unless he faces the Irish of course.

So basically CJ Sanders showed out at The Opening and that's that.

If this is really why he's dropping us (and I have no reason to doubt anyone) then I'm glad he did. This doesn't sound like someone who has the confidence to fight the hard fight or he realizes Sanders is that much better than him and we pulled the wool over a lot of teams eyes.

On a side note, if Sanders blew up that big, get ready for the poachers.

Ducks fans are talking about the weather being a factor. Not sure if he took us out, if the coaches said Sanders took his spot or what, but it's being spun as him eliminating us.

Consider the source...................

Weather had absolutely nothing to do with it.

Direct from Newsome's mouth "they don't need two of the same player."

This one is far from over. It's gonna be a dogfight for Mora to keep him until he actually signs.

And for all that hatred we have towards UCLA and their recruiting, we are still owning them even during an OK year for us. On Rivals they are #18 and on ESPN they are #19 (last night anyway).

They are insignificant. They are "meh", and I won't give any of their fans the satisfaction of thinking they are getting over on us as long as Mora is their coach.

I'd simply add that this USC class is the first in a couple of steps for USC getting back to dominating UCLA. UCLA is headed back to the little brother role very soon.

Good for us since the division they play in will be the most competitive in the country next season.
