Per TJ

ND, Clemson, whomever... This one, in reality, will go to NSD or thereabouts.

We will be relentless from either perspective, holding or chasing. Love this kid and a great fit.

We may be relentless, but IMO too much ground to make up. I hope he proves me wrong.

Well, proximity to home shouldn't be a major concern since Clemson is nearly 6 hours away from home, which is still a trip. But recruiting has made me almost despise the words "Cookout" and "Barbeque". They never seem to bode well for ND.

Which, according to the Vanderdi, will pretty much allow him to live at home while at school.

The other day TJ was fairly confident that this will go to OV's but I agree that he's committing to Clemson soon.

While I agree he's gonna commit to Clemson, getting him back on campus won't hurt.....

Makes no difference who he commits to, as TJ said this will go to the end of recruiting cycle.

Maybe he will commit to Clemson to save a spot since they only have a few spots left? IDK why he would commit but take other OVs and why Clemson would take him under those circumstances.

Loy has an interview up that I haven't watched yet but he says that he's locked in an OV to ND already but the caption below doesn't say when. I'll update when I watch it unless somebody beats me too it

I will be happy if he comes for an OV. I just don't understand committing to a team knowing you will take OVs elsewhere. I know it's done, but I don't get it.

Sounds like he wants to get back for the Michigan game.

That Michigan game is going to be sick. Hope we have most of our remaining targets at the game.

The atmosphere plus a big win would do wonders with the remaining recruits is this class imo!

I was surprised at how ho-hum he looked in the Opening footage.

I don't either but kids do it every year.

If a place offered me a job and I needed one, I'd commit.
I'd keep my resume up on LinkedIn though.
If someone calls me for an interview and I like that place better, I'd take it...

Not sure it's fair to judge these kids by a different standard than I'd hold myself to.

Not sure if its "fair" to others for you to hold yourself to that standard (or no standard at all), but I agree that its good not to be hypocritical!

I think the point is the the typical Orwellian-style common to regulatory organizations, the NCAA should stop using the term "commitment" if the act doesn't entail any kind of commitment by either party. It's terrible for an educational organization to butcher language like that.

The NCAA should stop using the term "verbal commitment" and should start referring to a "Non-binding Statement of Intent." The unofficial terms should be something like "Asking the school to save a spot" (hard commits) or "Naming a clear leader" (soft commits).

Strangely, you actually commit by signing a Letter or Intent. They should rename that a "commitment agreement." That sounds more like what it is!

we could just use the word lean, and then use the degrees of an angle to determine how much of a lean

/ = 30 degree lean
- = 90 degree hard lean

I can get behind this.

"Yeah he is an oblique commit right now."

Not the same thing. He has offers from all over the place. And he's the quality of player that a school will always find room for.

That and the fact that nobody is making him choose now whereas presumably one of us would need an income to support a family/bottle of Jameson to drown out the Tommy Rees turnovers.

Tommy Schutt went to his 3rd choice allegedly due to schools filling up at his position. Josh Adams by all accounts would be a PSU commit right now if he wasn't beat to the punch by 2 RBs.

I'm sure there are hundreds of examples of guys who were solid 4-stars who this has happened to.

If he were a Top-50 player I'd agree with you, but composite of #145 doesn't make think that he can wait as long as he wants and go anywhere.

That is incredibly naive

That is incredibly naive. Does Brian Kelly hold spots for everyone regardless of their unwillingness to commit? Trust me, even 4 star top 100 talent like Bryant is told to make a decision or risk losing a spot. Very few recruits get that treatment.

Sure it sucks for us what happened with Blake Barnett, but assume for the moment that Alabama was always his dream school and they weren't sold yet.

If they never commit to an actionable offer to him, he is perfectly happy to go to ND. If he doesn't commit to ND, back in 2013, ND is hunting for someone aggressively and maybe gets their Waller or Stidham. Now Blake is stuck.

Flip that scenario around and consider that if we get Iman Marshall or Marvell Tell to commit I could easily see Nick Coleman and Ashton White to look around.

It's a game and is the reality of recruiting in 2014. I don't blame Barajas or White or Adams or Everett Golson for that matter for playing it.
