Maybe not top talent who has grades, but anyone in the top 250 who has average grades... they will think twice... why turn down other schools when you can be booted before Aug 1

It's not as bad as it looks on the surface... my problem is that it should never, ever get to this kind of point. A kid shouldn't be in school right now taking classes and then they go "hey how you liking things so far? Doing good in school work? Yeah, looks like you've adjusted great... about that though... your test score was just a bit too low for my subjective line in the sand so pack up your things. K THANKS."

If you want to not admit him that's OK. Handle it at the correct time. Do your damn job.

I usually have no reservations getting out the pitchforks and whipping up all the people I know who donate far more $$ than me... but these people might be evaluating my kid's application some day so I'm gonna sit this one out.

I'm sure people in the admissions department will be perusing ND message boards, looking for any potentially disparaging remarks about the university, marking the poster, doing an intense (and perhaps illegal) background check in the hopes of identifying the poster, creating a file on the alleged poster, then cross-checking any relations the poster may have potentially applying to the school at some future date.

If he's good enough for you to accept a NLI and enforce a binding contract then suck it up ND. You knew what you were getting into. Be a Catholic university and enrich the education of your students. Ex post facto or rolling admissions review isn't going to cut it

I think this is what is really at issue here for me. These things can potentially ruin a young man's life. Live up to the high standards you place upon yourselves, and do what is right for this student. Do what is right for the university by not sullying its good name. Do what is right for the football team that represents this university (within reason and this is well within reason). Do what is right for the family that helped guide him in the decision making process. What I have seen so far, this has not been doing what is right by anything other than "Look at all the power we have in admissions to ruin somebody's future HAHAHA!"
