Mike Frank said he would be very surprised if Cornell picks ND, been little communication back-forth with ND.

In fact said "there hasn't been any communication lately"... but we're in his top 2 remember?!?!

Well played by Meyer getting the most mileage out of this. He doesn't need to worry about recruiting against Michigan because #HokeLOL, so you get two very high profile players to pick OSU over ND with as much fanfare as possible. Smart.

I teach/coach high school football, and these kids are getting worse and worse with the whole recruiting thing, but the college coaches are just as bad! Recruiting never stops, because a coach's job depends on who they could get to play for them. It's like a doubled edge sword, coaches inflate these kids egos, and a lot of them are not mature, or don't have mature people around them to handle the process "properly". I would like to think I would handle recruiting the "right way", but if I was 18 again I might live it up. A lot more $ and cool things out there then when I went on recruiting trips.

I agree the attention and (often) pressure is absurd. Watching recruiting I always feel this weird combination of amazement at the opportunities these kids have and horror at the meat market nature of it all.
I get the pressure that coaches are under. And even more the way that all that can mess with a 17 year old. But you'd like to think that someone in the situation - parents, an uncle, a coach - would help a recruit maintain some perspective and think long-term. Especially at schools like CDH that routinely send players to big-time programs; they know the drill. And yet, these shitshows go on every year (and Cornell is by no means the worst). Whole thing's kind of a mess.

I agree 100%, but no two kids are the same, even from the same program. In a perfect world a kid chooses a place they could succeed both on and off the field. ND seems to fit the bill for both, but the more I follow recruiting the more I see "truly elite" kids that are just worried about football, of course there are exceptions. People talk about it all the time on this site,at ND you have to be a Student-Athlete. The reality of it is that a lot of kids could care less about the first part of that label. It is also the same thing that as a ND football fan and educator I have internal fights about every Saturday in the fall! It's the same reason college football recruiting is unfair, but it is also the same reason that no matter what, once you graduate from an institution like ND you are set for the rest of your life. If him and Hilliard come, I will be happy, but if they don't I hope they find happiness where ever that may be!

Had a dream last night he committed to ND. He committed first before Hilliard so it was an obvious give-away that they were both going to ND. Wishful thinking...

Couldn't help but laugh that Cornell is trying to eat a football in his picture. He may have succeeded in getting a few down based off his off season results.

No idea how much weight to put in that, but mix it with Loy's tweet about Hilliard's dad on Monday, and things could get interesting.

That would be the perfect end. Cornell trolling everyone, including Hilliard.

Ha I would be surprised if this kid sticks, especially if he is still taking visits. We all know that game too well

As much as Hilliard seems like a good kid, this kid rubs me the wrong way. He should fit right in at OSU.
