I asked Tom about his expected visit and Tom still
Expects him to visit the 23rd, I would be shocked if he truly does

Don't know about Monday, but he doesn't visit fairly soon, we'll start moving in another direction, no?

If he doesn't make it this week then I would expect he isn't going to make it bc I'm fairly certain he is visiting USC tom and I'm sure he will be going to Oregon really soon so we don't have much time to get him on campus and show him what we are about. As far as other QB's, not even sure who the staff have interest in beside Stidham.

That's sort of what I mean. If he starts taking a bunch of visits and letting this play out awhile, that'd be a sign he's likely going elsewhere. And even if we're still in the mix, we'd have to start eyeing a new layer of fallback options (our only other Plan B is Stidham and I wouldn't hold my breath there) if we hope to land anyone better than a highly-developmental three-star.
That might not be the end of the world. But if you're going to land a QB it's probably best to land him before the season starts. It'll be pretty slim pickings after that.

I'm not convinced they will
Take a QB unless Stidham wants to come aboard and I'm also not sure how hard we are recruiting Waller, seems odd Elliot is recruiting him and not Matt

I would still love to get either Waller, Stidham, or White but if we can snag Henry I am fine without taking this year. Could add an extra skill player in that slot and I woe be just fine with that.

He going to ND it's a done deal. I can feel it!!

What in the fudge are you talking about? Everything suggests that Waller to ND is about as far from a done deal as possible.

I don't know about you.

Wilfong just posted that if Waller makes it to ND, it might just be him and not his mother because of how expensive the trip is.

'Zactly!

A new level of controversy and drama; anti-trolling, to point out the foibles of the fan base by sounding like the most Kool-Aid engorged!

This kid is doing everything possible to make sure he doesn't end up at ND!

I just don't get this. We had BB for the 8 months during which relationships are established. During that time he was talking with Oregon, who also likes BB better. He has those relationships, plus, If ND doesn't get dinged for like BB better, neither will Oregon.

He's a west coast kid so Oregon and USC are going to get some attention.

He's a west coast kid, so getting to Indiana on 2-3 weeks notice is expensive and logistically difficult. We can't pay!

I just don't see why we have to interpret any of this as anything other than a kid we offered 3 weeks ago checking out his options!

That is reasonable in my mind no doubt, but to be honest I agree with Bogs. It really does feel like everything he is doing is to get out of going to ND. I would love it if he was all in, but I am not getting that vibe at all. His comments about Oregon lead me to believe he wanted them all along. Which is fine, if that is where he wants to be.

Yes, getting from California to ND is expensive. But is it more expensive today than it was a couple weeks ago? Was the expense of the trip not known a couple weeks ago?

It's not a good sign when obstacles emerge that were there all along.

This. Three day trip to Alabama? No problem. LA->CHI? OMG SO EXPENSIVE!

He was already planning a trip to Northwestern at the same time for a LONG time before this, so frankly it does not logically follow that this ND trip is anything more than the added cost of a couple bus tickets on top of the cost to get to Northwestern. Not to mention the planned trip to Ohio State? This talk of expenses is nothing more than a smoke screen and a poor one at that.

I really do not think he is coming here, and I also am not convinced we're balls to the wall recruiting him either. Reading between the lines I think we're trying to make a power move on Stidham (and so is Oregon).

Who is recruiting Stidham?

I think it's fairly obvious that ND isn't pressing for Waller at all, because as mentioned plenty of times the past few days, there's no LaFleur or BK mentioned in terms of recruiting him, but perhaps they're saving the "press" for later in the game as well? Who knows.

The conspiracy theorist in me wonders if keeping LeFleur in the wings on '15 QB recruiting from this point forward is a subtle move to show the '16 studs how important they are, especially in light of LeFleur's relationship with Henry.

We don't really need a quarterback this year. We need an elite one next year.

We will have three under scholarship for two years, with at least a preferred walk-on, (or two.)

I understand what you are saying however you almost have to take one.

If EG has a great year he could leave after this season. Or if he isn't playing well and Zaire comes in and wins the job, EG gets mad transfers the you only have Zaire, Kizer and then a walk on.

So if Zarie were to get hurt then you would be down too Kizer and a walk on.

I don't buy that we can or should pass on a QB this year. Straight up... this year is LOADED at QB. '16 is great too... but the idea of striking out on a crop like this is depressing.

On top of that, if anything were to happen to one of the three QBs we expect back for '15 (academics, off-the-field, NFL, etc. etc.) then we'd be stuck at 2 QBs... which is not remotely close to a prudent idea.

If Stidham goes to Oregon and not ND, then I do sincerely hope we make a strong push at Waller. I know some are not a very big fan of his, but I think it's crucial that we add someone who at minimum has upside.

I get what your saying but if we can't get a high level guy, which may happen, we don't need a depth QB.

Waller told 24/7 he pushed back his ND visit after the Oregon after. Was supposed to visit tomorrow, now 'maybe in July'. Sounds like he is all Oregon.

Yup, "money" was definitely the factor... which is, you know, why he can fly to Oregon for a second time but couldn't make his scheduled trip to ND/NW.

It was always such bullshit and I'm disappointed no reporters on any of the sites were willing to call it how it was.

Would be funny as hell if Stidham popped for Oregon before Waller got on campus.

I talked to the head coach (Mark Helfrich) and he explained what took so long. They do offers differently. They offer and wait until a guy commits before they offer the next guy.

Ultimately, I'm okay with not winning over any recruit that truly doesn't want to be here.
