LOL you guys getting on TP for tweeting a link to a PUBLISHED ARTICLE is one of the more ridiculous things I've seen on this site. All he did was provide a link to a factual, even-handed article with statements from the police report... which is good, because instead of speculating you can read what exactly is alleged to have occurred.

Do you think if you bury your head in the sand it'll be as if it didn't happen? Or that people won't hear about it? I don't get it.

this. it isn't like tp has some evil plot to take down ND with a single article. Dude is sharing the news in a professional manner. that's all.

OK cool so your plan is to hide from facts. That's an awesome way to approach life.

Approaching 'life' and a PR move after a devestating incident where you're trying to keep as much as close to the vest as possible is about as night and day as it gets.

Like I made very clear in my post on my opinion, I would have directed fans/recruits/haters to an article that was void of the extreme and embarassing details. I'm sure one exists that doesn't spell out Mahone as a racist, cop threatening, glock owning, maniac.

If that opinion on how to handle the situation is really the most rediculous thing you've read on this site, then you've had it pretty easy.

So basically you don't want anyone knowing the truth.

People are going to know the truth, but the greater CFB communite could probably go without the extreme details that will make us the brunt of jokes to come.

Just my opinion.

If that makes you guys upset, sorry but I'm really not.

Agreed. He linked to a mainstream news article. The quotes come from police reports. This isn't rumor-mongering; it's a report about allegations that are actually being made by the State against Will Mahone. I fail to see what TP did wrong.

(Here is the part where koonja reiterates what he has already said because he insists on having the last word ... I'll ask nicely: please don't clutter the thread with a repetition of your previously-expressed views like you always do. We understand where you stand, and we are entitled to express our disagreement, and it doesn't help for you to say the same thing over and over again.)

Why brush this under the rug? That's a very Urban thing to do. I'm glad Hanson didn't try to hide the obscenities. And I'm glad TP shared the article. We are ND, we don't condone this and we don't brush this aside.

I'm not saying brush it under the rug, but tweeting a truthful article such as this:

Notre Dame WR Will Mahone arrested | CollegeFootballTalk

Spares us the intel on racism, gun threats, and spitting on officers.

Do you think they greater CFB community outside of ND is going to have more fun with the South Bend Tribune article, or this one?

I'd say the SB tribune article. If you disagree, fine, but I stand by my point.

GB posted two photos of him and Will on instagram, first one said "Praying for you bro, God won't give you something you can't handle" second one said "I love ya bro on everything"

Koon, you are exactly like the Japanese government in Godzilla. Eventually people will find out what really happened but by then it will be too late and thousands of people will die. You don't want that blood on your hands...

It's naive to think that people aren't going make ND the brunt of jokes anyway, regardless of whether or not they see the facts. All they need to see is "ND player arrested" to do that. Who cares if they have the details? They're going to talk shit all the same.

And besides, your initial concern was with the masses that follow TP seeing those details... the masses that follow TP aren't the ones you need to worry about.

The city isn't what it used to be. It all happened so fast. Everything went to crap. It's like... everyone's sense of morals just... disappeared. Bad economy made things worse. The jobs started drying up. Then the stores had to shut down. Then a black man was elected President. He was supposed to change things. He didn't. As more and more people turned to crime and violence the town becomes gripped in fear. Dark times. The city needs protection.

There is an animal that lives by night, searches the trashcans and cleans out the garbage. To clean out the trashcan of society I've chosen to become more than a man. I'm the hero this town needs. I am... the Coon!

If you guys think everyone that follows CFB outside of ND fans is going to see this and dig for every detail, then we agree to disagree.

Personally, if I read this: Notre Dame WR Will Mahone arrested | CollegeFootballTalk

And it was a USC/Michigan/Stanford player, I'd make a joke and be done with it.

I'd have zero interest in following up and digging into the details since this stuff happens all of the time to CFB players.

But if I read that a Michigan/USC/Stanford player spit on a cop, was racist, and threatened him with a gun, I'm paying a hell of a lot more attention to how that plays out.

Maybe I'm the only CFB that would react that way.

Even with the details, I don't think other team's fans are going to go out of their way to follow this story any more than the initial details. They've seen what they need to seem, they'll have a ball with it regardless.

And in the end... who gives a shit what other fan bases are saying?

Might have already been posted, but from a damage control/image standpoint, the timing was fortunate with the NBA Finals wrapping up and the World Cup in full swing.

I do know that many college athletes will smoke spice during the season because of NCAA drug testing. This stuff has been known to cause psychotic behavior in certain individuals. Too much booze and some of that stuff can turn people into paranoid raging animals who have no semblance of reality, and will go violently berzerk on anything around them.

Now, I'm not saying that this is what happened (I have no knowledge of him or his personal habits), but it could explain the violent and psychotic behavior that seems so out of character for him. Either way, its a sad turn of events and I hope that everything will get sorted out a fair and effective manner.

Ugly situation.

Consequences will be dealt.

Hopefully, there is healing from this for all parties involved.

This is about lives and the troubles that often surround us all on a daily basis, not scholarships, PR concerns, and moral high grounds.

Moralizing, however seemingly justified, is kicking a man when he's down.

A young man has done his best to throw away his future.

He did irreversible damage and will suffer the consequences for the rest of his life.

When all is said and done, the punishment will cut Will Mahone the deepest.

As a man, I don't wish anyone ill will, because at any moment, the shoe could drop.

Just a statement from ND that says it will be handled by the criminal justice system as all legal matters are, and that any university discipline will be handled privately like usual.

Was retweeted by Bruce Feldman earlier, should pick up steam soon and we should expect to see it on ESPN by tonight.

Highly doubt it will be on ESPN. Mahone is about as famous as Terry Hanratty so no one will care.

1. Bad situation.
2. hope the best for him.
3. Time to stop the speculation on what he might have had in his system.
4. Koon, time to let it go.

P.S. Fuck Michigan!

Easy to pass judgment on someone that acts like that, but I really feel worse for him after reading that story. No way he was in his right mind. Not going to speculate on the cause, but I actually think it would be better if he was under the influence of something serious, because that kind of a break without an acute trigger is definitely scarier and bodes worse for his long-term future.
