There's nothing to break down. It's 95 percent runningin his highlight video... absolutely tremendous athleticism but there's nothing in that film that says oh wow that's a deadly combo ... Therefore, not a fan. I don't get the hoopla. Maybe camps are different and he's throwing bullets, but I'm not feeling it

As for the ESB connection, does anyone really think they are a package deal? So if you like him because of that then that proves my point as to there's much to be desired

Please I've posted on this board for over 2 years, I think this is the first time I came close to not being enthusiastic about a recruit that has a good chance of picking ND

Mentioned this before, but go watch ESB's highlights. No idea why Waller didn't include those plays, but he throws some bombs.

Nobody is suggesting that you leave. But can you not see how that sort of unsupported negativity about a highly-rated QB recruit ND supposedly leads for would annoy many of us? Had you simply taken the extra 10 seconds to explain yourself as you just did, I doubt anyone here would have taken issue with it.

I respect when a poster says he doesn't like a player or something like that. I hope we all don't agree on the same players. Thanks for keeping it real 8248

The throws in St. Browns highlights are impressive. He isnt the same thrower as Barnett, but I think he is a passer. He also has a lot of talent running the ball. I am a fan of his as a qb.

Just to clarify, I have no problem with dissenting opinions. It's unsupported negativity that gets annoying really fast. So if you've got something negative to say about a recruit or ND in general, back it up or keep it to yourself.

That's what I mean? What do you mean? I am saying if you don't like a recruit why can't you just say that? Then say why you don't like him?

Don't just say you don't like a recruit because he is a 3 star and with zero offers.

Is that not ok?

As long as you give your reasons, then that's absolutely OK. It was 8248's lack of support for his opinion that elicited a negative reaction; not the simple fact that he doesn't like Waller.

I agree with that, I also agree with being negative and positive about recruits as long as you say why. Not just saying I don't like him because I don't like him.

Agree all around.

I love when people disagree with me or have a different opinion because it makes me and everyone else more aware of the issue/question/topic at hand.

If everyone agreed with me, then I don't see the point in posting since I'd essentially be talking to myself.

I don't understand how some people get all itchy when someone doesn't share their opinion.

Reps for days, to all three of you.

normally id agree with the supported answer but seriously when Im the only one who has said anything about passing on him and it was in the middle of a love fest, honestly didnt see the point when it was already a foregone conclusion lol

8248 he really didn't throw it much this year only had about a thousand yards throwing it with about 11 TD's

People have raved about him all summer saying he has been the hottest QB on the West Coast this summer. I am not sure how long he has been playing varsity QB. There is little doubt he needs to work on his passing. He is also working with Steve Clarkson one of the best QB coach's in the country.

Here is a highlight of him throwing it if you wanna watch it. He's got a funky release like Barnett did but it can easily be touched up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=grLEVSqmhW0

People have said the kid loves the big stage and shines when the lights come on. Also I think Gorney said is without a doubt an incredible leader. He isn't going to be asked to play right away so let Brian Kelly (if Waller comes) to get his hands on him, he could be a superstar in this offense. Oregon would have offered him but they knew they knew they were gonna flip Barnett. So if he can play in Oregon's spread offense I am sure he can play in ND's. There is little doubt his best football is ahead of him. Sure,I really wanted Barnett and Stidham for this offense but it's not like Waller is a scrub. look at all the top dual thread QB's in the nation the past years.

Colt McCoy
Marcus Mariota
Case Keenum
Bryce Petty
Robert Griffin
Johhny Manziel
Bo Wallace
Colin Kaepernick
Rusell Wilson

All those guys were 3 stars, Waller is a 4 star rivals 100 QB. He wasn't the staffs first choice and I know his highlight tape isn't gonna wow anybody throwing it even though he has shown he can make some excellent passes. It's not like he is gonna be asked to start against Texas

I'm going to pat myself on the back here and say this is exactly what I'm talking about. One guy goes against the grain, gets a respectful response, and IDK about you guys, but I didn't know all of the above about Waller. So I learned something about Waller, maybe you did too, and maybe 2482 changed his stance. And if he didn't, that's ok too.

I'm a little drunk and I'm a happy drunk when I'm not watching ND, so I'm going to shut up now. But this is what I'm talking about. No need to fight, we're all on the same side.

I am not saying 8246 has to change his stance on Waller and I respectfully understand what he is saying. I was just trying to make my stance on Waller

Or "not a fan"?

We all understand what he was saying.

Thats basic language.

And negative as hell.

Not a fan

We are shit out of luck with a star leader since Barnett has boned out.

In the long run we're better off losing him now then later.

-but-

Waller brings most of us hope. Hope we can continue to stack the shelves at QB. Hope that another will rise and lead our team to the promise land.

JC Shurburt on Bill King radio show today: not shocked with Barnett but very high on Waller. Says ND will be fine if they get him.

ironically he thinks Waller fits better at Oregon amd Barnett at ND, but it is what it is

Negative as hell? Please, you can search any of our newest commits and find negative as hell

He's not a scrub, he's a legit athlete, I don't make stupid comparisons but honestly I see Terrell Pryor

Pryor is no scrub, he's worthy of starting job and whatever, but minus the off field pre Madonna (which Waller shows no signs) I still wouldn't take Pryor. I am distort that this kid likes to run first. Im suspect that his progressions are way behind the curve because he can rely on his athleticism.

Not a fan in the middle of a love fest is not negative as hell when you take it into context. I purposely didn't post criticism so I'm not ragging on a kid

8248, I think the biggest problem, and you've finally stated your stance, and the why......people don't care if you disagree, but most people would like to know your thoughts on said recruit, that is all. You see a Terrell Pryor, and I'm completely fine with that.

I may catch some flack here, but I think there's been a little overreacting. If someone wants to post a negative without backing it up, maybe ignore it and read on?

I get that part, and I understand the early skepticism, but I'm not a troll who flames with drive by posts or bitch about every recruit who isn't top 10, so the negative as hell or the outrage over a comment where the conversation was literally a love fest rather than an objective discussion, seemed dramatic ... I didn't think my analysis would jive with the flow of the conversation

Lesson learned lol ... Still not sold, but that doesn't mean I won't applaud him for making a wise decision and I'll prob buy his jersey if he starts

I'm excited about the prospect of possibly getting Waller... Of course, I readily admit that I'm not as adept at breaking down film as a lot of you guys are. One of the big reasons I'm on here constantly is that I enjoy reading the breakdowns you guys give. I'm always learning something new or being alerted to something I missed.

To me, though, it seems that once high school players show a certain level of proficiency, it's basically impossible to tell for sure who will shine at the next level. In other words, watching tape, Barnett does currently look like he has a slightly better toolbox than Waller, but for 17-year-olds it just doesn't seem like that is a consistent barometer of future success.

I was actually more excited when we got Dayne than when we got Clausen. I don't mean that as a slight to Crist AT ALL! I think he was a great Notre Dame guy who exemplified the qualities that make me a fan of this program. It's just that his on-field accomplishments didn't live up to what I expected.

The reason I bring that up is - and this is strictly my opinion - because Barnett looks better on tape right now does not make me want him more than Waller at all. They're both kids with great football skills and who knows which of them will develop faster and further, who will have great leadership abilities, who will shine in the bright lights, etc.?

When it comes down to kids with even remotely similar abilities, I always want the one who "gets it" from ND's standpoint and is willing to throw himself wholeheartedly into the program way more than the one with the better high school tape.

I guess I'm just not a big "how many stars has he got" guy.

Waller's flight was delayed so he gets a third night in T Town. Shout out to the Birmingham International Airport for making this possible.

Charles Powers is hinting in private that he knows who Bama's next QB would be. Since Barnett is a foregone conclusion to Oregon, is Powers suggesting Waller? Still, I just don't see Waller and his skill set at Bama. And his July 1st announcement is better news for the Irish IMO.
