He will need to add a lot of strength, but he moves very well for his size, and I love how he uses his hands both in the trenches and batting down balls.

I am just looking for some insight here, but I have seen several offers to DTs that are for, a lack of better words, under the radar.

Is this that we are probably going to miss on some of our targets and we are moving on or is this more likely the staff finally getting around to seeing film and evaluating other kids.

When looking at some of these offers, I easily wonder the same thing then I think about the last 4 years.

CJ Prosise - 5.5
Chris Brown - 5.7
Romeo Okwara - 5.7
Devin Butler - 5.6
Corey Robinson - wasn't ranked originally (ended at 5.8)
Nick Martin - 5.6

These are Rivals rankings. Kelly's staff has been fantastic at identifying talent before it blows up. I trust them with their evaluations and I have to believe if they are offering prospects this early, it's because they believe they can contribute (not because they are a consolation prize).

I definitely agree and I do not want my post to seem anything other than I trust the staff, however I do not neglect that they have a "board" with prospects they like in a preferential order. I am just wondering about how the offers go out and if new offers are a result of us missing the higher rated prospects that were initially offered.

Is taking a east coast swing of visits and is then visiting ND June 11th. Basically he has his mind made up and will be committing by the end of the month. Good relationship with Elston. Watched Nix and Tuitt play the last couple of year. When speaking about Nyles Morgan "thats my guy." They talk a lot. This will be who commits first for the first DT spot. Sounds like Treadway will be the first to do so.

Size-Strength-Speed
Possesses a very nice combination of height and bulk at this stage. A thickly built defender with room to add some additional good mass with time in a college weight program. Displays good playing strength and good initial quickness. Top-end speed looks to be above-average for size.
Versus the Run
Demonstrates ability to fire out and uncoil and explode into blockers and can be tough to move off the ball with one blocker. Flashes ability to fight to hold ground against double teams. Does a good job of shooting his hands and being able to create some separation, but needs to work get off blocks quicker at times. Displays adequate ability to redirect and good range for size.
Pass Rush Skills
Flashes ability to convert speed to power and push blockers back with bull rush, when he keeps pads down. Displays good activity with hands and works to attack half-man and displays solid closing burst. Flashes ability to sniff out screens.
Toughness/Motor
Needs to continue to add strength, but can be a physical player. Like lot of big men can be little more consistent, but overall looks to give very good effort and will pursue the ball downfield. A solid wrap-up tackler.
Bottom Line
Dew-Treadway is a prospect with some very good physical tools. Needs to continue to develop technically, but can be tough, physical and active player in the trenches. Could offer some versatility with potential to fit as a 34DE or DT and ideal fit could be as a 5-technique in base 3-4. May not be an immediate contributor, but good prospect with tools to be a productive defender for a power conference program.
Junior Eval
STRENGTHS: Displays a thickly built frame with good height. Will generally come off the ball with good quickness and pad level. His athleticism increases range down the line or to outside runs. Is a strong tackler if on the proper angle. ... AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT: Is still developing as a football player. Will not always get off of blocks cleanly or quick enough to locate the football. Has enough speed as a pass rusher but does not use hands effectively at this stage. ... BOTTOM LINE: Dew-Treadway has a lot of upside but needs time to develop and gain experience along the defensive line. Has the quickness and ability to shoot hands but needs to be more consistent. Has the skills to develop into a BCS level recruit.

Dew-Treadway heading somewhere other than South Bend would be a major surprise.

I'll go ahead and say it.

Staff knows what they're doing, but I would prefer they settle down on accepting commits from all of these 3-stars with marginal offers.

We're going to have a great season and with us getting two DT commits this week, we could hold off for an elite DL IMO. Same with CB. Getting Crawford and lead for Reid, plus we have II coming up.

Ok, now have at me. It's hammertime.

I thought the update the other day from TJ (?) said only two of Dew-Treadway, Tiassum, and Taylor. Am I wrong?

I agree... But I know very little so that really isn't a supportive claim that will help you.

Bullshit. Both of our rep bars say we should be giving advice to Kelly.

Well here's ours, Brian. Now tuck your dick in and sign some top dogs.

This is what I posted in Elijah Taylor's thread.

Interesting post from TJ.

They really like Taylor, Tiassum and Dew-Treadway a lot. All three are big-bodied Interior DL with talent, upside potential, athleticism and a mix of skill sets to play either the 1- or 3-techniques depending on front and scheme. Good versatility across this group and each is a fit.

They'd probably love to land two of them to meet target needs for DT/NT, but would continue recruiting the position (DT) through NSD in the event a third top guy (assuming we've landed two already) wants to come. There's some flexibility in their plan accordingly, and BVG knows what he wants. He likes all three guys, plus others obviously.

Ok that makes more sense. I didn't recall it that way. Lucky, I haven't seen Dew-Treadway's tape yet. Where do you put him compared to the other two?
