I just want this thread to die
Because it hurts my heart every time I have to look at the thread title. Just curious but what are you guys still talking about? I haven't thread the lately.
Shits.
I know a guy who has the opportunity to speak to a current staff member fairly regularly. Here goes:
The staff knew roughly a week or so before it happened that keeping Barnett was unlikely. They were doing their QB due diligence in prepping for his decommitment. Was told when Barnett decommitted they basically said "Goodbye and good luck. See ya."
Unrelated to Blake: Same staff member got a call from another recruit saying they were staying in their home state and eliminating ND to which he told them in a nice way "No sweat, we want kids who want to be here and have plenty of recruits on the board who fit that category. "
He implied they are done dealing with fence riders as it rarely works out for them in taking those kids who they talk into coming then end up leaving anyways. Mike has echoed this many times over the years how it rarely ends well for ND.
Ty Issac wanted to come to ND but USC blocked it. Didn't say what position had he came to ND as it was moot point.
DT Dew-Treadway is a guy they really like. Didn't say where he falls in priority with E. Taylor and Tiassum but they really like him as a 3T DT. They see him at 6'5 300 once they get him in with Longo. They want big space eaters at DT to keep the OL off the LBs in BVGs scheme.
That's about it for now. I kept this as generic as possible for obvious reasons.
Did anyone every relay this info from ISD? Some poster posted it on ISD board a few days ago. Not sure if someone already did.
I just read that and was gonna copy and paste it.
Sounds like staff just didn't want Ty Isaac
hope he's not referring to Bilal as the guy from Indy that wants to go elsewhere.
edit: nevermind just re-read the post and i'm a dumb ass

I like that our staff is taking this approach, but I hope we aren't limiting ourselves by avoiding heated recruiting battles. I haven't gotten that impression from the staff at all to this point.
I don't think you can compare the two. Battles are reserved for those that really do have legit interest in your program. Fence riders are those guys that string you along, never fully making a decision, cancel 5 visits, allow their friends to influence their decisions, want all the love from each fanbase, and just don't know what they want for themselves.

Now that I can fully support. My concern was that "fence rider" would apply to any kid whose struggling with the decision and shuffling favorites.
I requested to cancel my subscription as well. The level of professionalism and 'journalism' is atrocious. I am not giving them another dime.
Don't know how you got that, the post said Tyler Isaac wanted to come to ND, however, Southern California blocked him from doing so......
Yeah but there was some disagreement in that thread about if BK would have called USC, if they would have lifted his restriction. Seems the consensus was yes, if BK would have tried harder, they might have.
Awesome. Hope he winds up at Ole Miss.

That sounds more like wishful thinking mixed with BK haters. USC isn't going to do us any favors - EVER

I don't think ND put any effort in for it. Didn't Isaac mom also state USC didn't block him from any schools?
That's what I thought glad we agree Ironman.
This also makes me wonder if when Isaac almost visited before signing day that ND staff didn't want him too. Because they didn't want to scare off Tarean Folston or Greg Bryant. Or Ty Isaac really wanted to visit but ND staff told them no
There is some serious cross talk on whether ND was blocked or not. People in Ty's camp (per a poster on ISD who Christian vouched for) all ND had to do was request permission but ND didn't. So either we weren't interested or dropped the ball... or the family is mistaken.

Let's not pretend even marginal talents don't have a huge advantage in the job market based on their name recognition in the South. Hell, I'd rather tell people my insurance agent is Connor Shaw than "Joe Snuffy."
