I think you are correct in regards to what Saban and Kiffen are thinking. But as a recruit, do you think that Bama is going to mold an offense around you or mold you around the offense? I would tend to think the latter, which makes this puzzling from Waller's POV.

I agree completely with LAX's analysis above. But Saban pretty much gets whoever he wants.

For most kids we recruit, our staff can make a compelling and objective case that we offer the best product in the nation. But we lose a lot more recruiting battles than we win because recruiting isn't an objective game. The "consumers" are gullible kids, and their parents are often uninformed. Guys like Meyer and Saban regularly sign top classes by appealing to emotion, greed, lust and their own authority.

Committing to 'Bama obviously isn't in Waller's best interests. I'm not counting on him to understand that, though.

I wouldn't be shocked if saban wanted to change up his offense a little, even maybe using a DT QB.

Reading between the lines at how much he was displeased with his last OC and how impressed he is with what guys like Malzahn do to an opposing defense, I could see him possibly making the move.

He's smart enough to know that the team can't change drastically like that overnight, so maybe he wants to slowly implement it, and a guy like a Waller is a piece to that change. Yeah, I get that kiffin is a pro-style coach, but so were Cam Newton, RG III, and Jesus Tebow's NFL OC's before they came around.

Just throwing out ideas if Waller does indeed go to alabama.

Perhaps, but it doesn't change the fact that Kiffin doesn't know the first thing. If this was Saban's endgame then he made the wrong hire.

I don't know. Maybe he knew it would take 2, 3 years to fully implement, by which time he expects kiffin to be gone. Or maybe saban only wants to use elements of it (a couple series here and there) and believes that kiffin, after being an NFL head coach, a two-time major college head coach, and former OC can put something together.

I could also be totally off base here too. Haha!

I think if a QB like Waller does end up at alabama, then there could be something to the theory. If alabama ultimately ends up with a pro-style QB, then I am probably completely off the mark.

The way I see this going down is he visits Bama and Saban/Kiffin say "if you don't commit now you lose your spot because we can't wait... and here's $10k to show how much we want you" and then he commits before leaving campus. Just gut feeling.

What suckers.........take the money, cash it in, bath in one dollar bills, then proceed to decommit in favor of the Irish.

And what is to prevent guys from doing exactly that? It's not as if Bama can do anything about it without first saying they payed a player lol. A guy I go to church with was an OL recruit way back in the day (he played for the Cowboys under Landry - he is old) and he tells a story about them semi threatening his father to pay them back for something because he did not commit to them. He laughed and told them to try because he would just report them.

It all started with Chris Clark earlier this year

Chris Clark was the wrongest I think I've ever been when it comes to crootin' and I've gotten worse and worse since then. Oh well this is a "bridge" class anyways.

Quinten Dormady just committing to Tennessee over Bama is the latest domino in '15 QB recruiting that really sucks for ND. I think Bama preferred him to Waller and Barnett because he is pro-style. Now I wouldn't be surprised if Bama and Oregon split Barnett and Waller and we are up shit creek sans paddle. Those 3 were the only uncommitted QBs that held Bama offers.

Lets get Francois and go after a big time '16. I am already not going to be happy with the QB this year. I say load up at skill positions and athletes.

Having an elite QB recruit goes a long way toward attracting those prospects.

Like Francois isn't a big time QB?

He might be but we are solid with the guys we have so I am honestly not that worried about a QB this year although we need one. Honestly he looks like Golson did coming out. He has mechanical issues, and his highlights I have watched are primarily pump fakes and one read passes. That being said he would be fine to take.

This isn't trending our way. It's tough to build momentum right now. We need some mojo. If Waller does choose Bama then I will honestly be beside myself. Not a match on any level but hey Saban will tell you what you want to hear.

FWIW, even with all this rumor mongering in Alabama's favor it's still only 8% of his crystal ball (ND at 78%). Just today, I count 8 picks for ND and 2 for Bama. I don't think this rumor is winning a groundswell of support among the 247 staff.
