Tebow is a bad example if you're going to Urban-bash (which I otherwise fully support.)

He's articulate, hard working, and a professional by all accounts. Those things are much more solid bets than a potential NFL career.

Yeah, I'd use the arrest records against him. That's pretty embarassing if everyone knew.

And that has everything to do with his upbringing. I live down the road from where he grew up, and folks around here knew he was special long before Florida and the Heisman did. I think the best you can say about Urban in his case is that he didn't screw up Tebow's good attributes. You can clearly make a case for Urban not developing the parts of his game that needed it - which lead to his demise at the NFL level.

my point was that urbie prepared AH for a great NFL career but to make poor choices off the field and with Tebow he (arguably) helped him become a great person but a poor NFL Pro.

Basically he took what he needed from each with little care for their all round development

I tend to agree.

Tebow is the perfect example of a kid that no Caoch could screw up charachter-wise, unless he was specifically trying. Another example is that kid who won the Rhode scholarship from FSU. But Urvan certainly didn't make Tebow a better QB.

To be fair to Urban, it was painfully obvious that he wished his whole team was like Tebow. But that's not the issue. The issue is what you are willing to tolerate to win. For Urban, it seems like it is almost anything.

All Urban cares about is Urban. I really can't imagine how awful of a person he must be considering he is clearly one of the worst in the profession & CFB HC's are probably second to politicians for being the most self-serving, narcissistic bunch.

So back to Ofodile....the part that stood out to him was that they showed him how they would take care of him after college. This seems like a simple thing that we should almost always win at. Our connections nation wide are extensive, and we should be able to show all the ways in which he can use a degree from ND. Bring in the folks that run the career center and let them do work! Show him the stats for how much you can make with a ND degree even if you don't make it to the NFL. Moral of the story is that we should win that battle against most of the universities across the land with only a few expcetions - and OSU shouldn't be one of them.

Agreed, but it wouldn't surprise me if their was something misleading or downright untrue about their presentation. They tried this with Holley last year where they somehow convinced him that they take care of their players after graduation better than any university and when asked about what specifically he couldn't name anything.

Did the same thing with Ezekiel Elliot. I forget get which person they had tape a video for him but it was all full of platitudes...

"We have the largest alumni network in the country and Buckeyes take care of Buckeyes!"... hmmm... yeah... sounds great on the surface, and takes a lot of effort that no one is going to spend to prove just how hollow that kind of statement is.

My life would be so much easier if I could just make shit up all day have nobody call me out on it.

More importantly, show him all the 4:s: WRs that Meyer and/or OSU have recruited over the last decade who are not being "taken care of".

Carl Moore.

You think Carl Moore is taken care of? You think this is cute? You think he's 'bitchin,' is that it? Let me tell you something. Look at him - he's a bum. You want to see something funny? You go visit Carl Moore in five years. You'll see how goddamned taken care of he is.

Mizzou is still the favorite in this race with ND as the dark horse.

It will be one of those two IMO
