So I gave a full summary of the situation to Hopkins, and here is what Hopkins said in response:

So it comes down to whether or not you believe Hopkins... or if you believe ND insiders. Hopkins has categorically denied any sort of "push" on Blake... but also didn't want to engage ND fans on the ND board.

The more strange part is what I bolded. I went back looking at post history and I don't know if I did it wrong but I could not for the life of me find posts where he was "promoting" Blake, etc. especially not relative to his commitment to ND last November. This whole thing is just taking quite a weird turn.

Wierd though he is bragging about doing something outside the normal scope of a recruiting reporter at the same time he's trying to deny doing something outside the normal scope of a recruiting reporter

Either way, there is enough of a connection between Blake/his family and a member/s of the ND family that there shouldn't be a worry. If there ever was something to worry about this/these person/people would make mention of it.

Hopkins is hoping Blake flips to Oregon because it would give paying members of 247 the illusion that Hopkins is legit. He's covering his ass by being welcoming to Lax and saying things like its possible, it might happen, it could only if.

Relax guys. If Blake still wasn't solid, why is he continuing to help recruit? Regardless of how much a push Hopkins tries to give him, you don't do and say all the thing BB has to this point, then flip because a recruiting analyst wants you to. Remember, an education from ND is better than Oregon and ND has shown that they can send a lot of kids to the NFL. I believe the education part was a big reason Blake chose ND so early.

It has been planned for a while and the staff knew about it. Barnett grew up an Oregon fan, and was starting to think he made his decision to quickly. Steve says he may not flip, but "his gut is telling him he will." ND is hanging in there.
