If he is pushing a school, then he is unofficially recruiting for a school and probably has too much contact with the recruits by NCAA standards. Slap the school with infractions and I bet they get crap straightened out

I think that losing good recruits like Barnett and Tillery scares us badly because we've been jaded.

The truth is, only they can shut down and vanquish our fears.

It's them that feeds this beast.

Agreed, and he doesn't have to adhere to as many rules and regulations from the NCAA. Recruiting down the stretch is a little easier when you don't have dead periods.

So I gave a full summary of the situation to Hopkins, and here is what Hopkins said in response:

Appreciate you clarifying. And I would have absolutely NO issue going over there to talk and/or share any news I have. However IMO, it would do more harm than good and turn downward in a hurry. But if any insightful posters as yourself wish to come over and converse, the board is always open.

Also I will use this to serve as a subtle reminder, I was by far the first analyst anywhere to promote Blake and introduce him to the recruiting world. I know the family appreciates that and if I was a nuisance in any way they know they don't have to return my calls or texts.

So it comes down to whether or not you believe Hopkins... or if you believe ND insiders. Hopkins has categorically denied any sort of "push" on Blake... but also didn't want to engage ND fans on the ND board.

The more strange part is what I bolded. I went back looking at post history and I don't know if I did it wrong but I could not for the life of me find posts where he was "promoting" Blake, etc. especially not relative to his commitment to ND last November. This whole thing is just taking quite a weird turn.

Good effort LAX. I'm on board completely with your feelings on this and it's obvious to me that Hopkins has motives to push Oregon. He knows these guys follow him and he retweets pointless Oregon information on equipment, Nike, facilities, etc. Whether he admits it or not, it's all pretty clear and is an angle to push the school. He's easily as biased as it comes with the 247 guys.

I also don't understand the point of continuing to push the communication with the Barnetts. Blake made it very clear how committed he was - why wouldn't Hopkins move on to other recruits? The majority of his energy is spent on a qb he KNOWS Oregon needs bad. End of story.

If that is what he is saying he did. Then why continue to hound him and his family. Job should be done. Blake was "discovered" and got a free ride to one of the most prestigious universities. Why does he need anymore promoting?

I could understand if Hopkins is continuing to stick his head out saying Blake should be #1 qb in country (that's promoting and doing a kid a favor). But, he is not. He is only pushing Oregon, who already knows about Blake and how to contact him.
