Hopefully we won't feel this way about Hoke too soon!

For whatever reason, our staff has actually done a piss poor job capitalizing on Hoke's stupidity while he's been in charge of the Wolverines. Despite the fact they've given us back the lead as winning-est program, Michigan has had our number each year under Hoke aside from a crazy 2012 game where the Wolverines failed to get on the board till the 4th quarter. Granted, they really should have lost in 2011 as our defense gave the game away, but they still found a way to win. I feel like they out coached Diaco last year, and our offensive game plan wasn't that great either.

His defense single-handedly won the game in 2012, but it could barely get a stop in 2010 and 2013, and collapsed late in 2011. So I'm very comfortable blaming Diaco for our recent trouble with the skunkbears.

Even with the defensive struggles in last year's game, the Irish was still within four points in the mid fourth quarter. Says something to me about this year's game. A BVG defense should get those 2-3 stops late that should propel the Irish to the victory.

Yeah, I think that's fair enough.

Right, even with the defensive issues, we still might have won that 2013 game if it weren't for Rees's turnovers.

And in 2011, Gary Gray could have saved the game by knocking down any one of numerous Denard Robinson armpunts. He was right there in position, and just couldn't make the play. I mean, come on. Still frustrated thinking about it.

Not a lot of faith in Wonderboy:

I agree with that. It's really unavoidable that once the first "bad" offensive showing happens, he will get TONS of heat.

Call me crazy, but somehow I get this feeling that Kiffin is made for the coordinator position. That, or he was just extremely lucky in his time with Cheaty Petey at USC. Kiffy is setup pretty well at 'Bama, much like he was at USC in it's heyday. Weis is probably in a similar boat, good offensive coordinator, mediocre to poor head coach.

That said...I said it awhile ago, but I cherish and appreciate Kiffin's time at USC as head coach. He will be missed....unless Sark ends up being even more incompetent, in which case forget what I said. I have a feeling Sark will fall somewhere between Pete and Kiffin as far as success goes.

Still am baffled why Saban would bring that cancer in.

Paul being Pawwwwl.

Alabama may lose 2 or 3 games this season...but it's laughable to lay all the losses on Kiffin...months before the season even begins.

Alabama has a very well oiled machine. They have great players, great coaches, great facilities, and a great overall program. But yeah, Kiffin, as OC, will alone cost them multiple games. GTFO.

As someone mentioned above, Kiffin is probably a very good coordinator, but just not suited to be a HC. Totally different job requiring a very different set of skills. He's a very good recruiter and by all accounts an excellent OC. As long as he can work in the background and keep his mouth shut, he's likely to be a good addition to our staff. We'll have a better idea in 6 months though.

He's just pulling a Loy IMO and stoking the fire for clicks. Can't imagine anyone who pays at least some attention to college football would think that's a reasonable statement.

If Bama loses three games it won't be because of Wonder Boy. It will be due to a poor kicking game and lack of seasoned defensive backs. I could coach that offense to at least 30 points a game... if Coker is as good as being reported.

Must be hard figuring out a way to get the ball to Amari Cooper. I could have averaged 400 yards a game calling plays for Bama.

its a given now that the OC or DC of the #1 team gets the Broyles right? Seems like a pretty lame award to give out now

Saban saw something there that the rest of us missed, and felt he could keep bad Lane in check and let good Lane do his thing. I'm as surprised as anyone at how well it all worked out.

Being stuck in SEC country, I was forced to watch a few Bama games. I was surprised to see how well he did. Even the way he handled himself on the sideline. Like Bishop said...Saban saw something. He may not be built to be a HC but he was a damn good OC this year.

Looks like he wasn't just lucky, although he's also been OC for probably two of the most stacked teams in college football at the time: USC in Petey's heyday and current 'Bama.

Give him credit for what he did with Blake Sims. Nobody expected this from Sims. Lane did a great job play calling, but the miracle he worked with Sims was amazing.

Hardly a miracle with the weapons he had around him. all he had to do was hand the ball off and throw the ball to amari, and if he failed then they had other 4/5 star QB's ready to take over. :/

I wouldn't minimize what he did though. Throwing the ball to Amari with a kid that played running back for 3 seasons before getting moved to QB had to be tough. I'm not a fan of Kiffin by a long stretch, but I can't hate. The SEC is brutal, and he did have a ton of weapons, but so did most of the def he was going up against.

If you saw what he did at USC under Pete Carroll you had to know that he is a good OC. He just doesn't have what it takes to be a head coach.
