It's all fine and dandy to say that a kid should choose the school for the school and it would work in our favor. But sometimes kids think that they have a good shot at the pros if they get the proper coaching. I do think that somebody who is looking at ND though really shouldn't waver if the coach leaves. A lot of the sell is the 40 year decision (especially with Kelly), so that may help keep a class intact when BK decides to move on.
Right. I guess it depends how risky you want to be. Think you have a real shot at the pros and want to go all in? Go to an SEC school or better yet, a program outside of the SEC where they have a great coach and easy schedule (reason being, to avoid injuries).
But if you're (IMO) smart, you have to know that no matter how great you are, you're one bad injury from never making money in the NFL, and so you better get the best value out of this free ride where you can go to any school in the country.
I don't fault guys for going all in on state schools with good coaches, but it's not what I would do because I would want a better back up plan.
On whiskey's 'value' charts, the numbers are great for ND, but in all reality, they're even better than they show. Using simple numbers, let's say your 'ROI' is 100 for Notre Dame, and 25 for OSU. Well discount ND's 'cost' to that of OSU's (since it's FREE to the athlete no matter how much tuition is) , and those 'ROI's go up even more (AKA, if ND's ROI is 100 at 40,000 a year, imagine what it goes to when compared to OSU at 10,000 a year). The ROI shows 100, but in all actuality it's 400.
The value of ND/Stanford type schools is really through the roof if you take out the cost of tuition, which is moot for full ride athletes.
