Yup. The over/under should be 2.5 schools, and I'd honestly take the over. Knee-jerk commitment from a kid who has been all over the map in just the one month I've been following his recruitment. These kids RARELY stick to the first school, and they sure as hell don't end up sticking at ND.

I stopped paying attention to him 10 days ago when the Farrell tweet came out. Kids that love the process as much as Clark does annoy the shit out of me.

Oh, no doubt. And that's their right...they've earned it through their play. But I just choose not to follow their recruitments because that type of behavior truly annoys me, and anyways, those guys usually don't make it at ND so I just choose to ignore them...

I agree and disagree. Just because they play at a higher level then most in HS football, doesn't mean they need to act stupid. Yet then again, he's probably been told how great he is by his dad and other kids for so long (probably dominated peewee FB) they get wrapped up in themselves too much. We've seen this happen so many times you wonder if they really get the big picture?

I'll follow his recruitment for the entertainment value, but won't lose any sleep either way.

Being too hard on this kid, IMO. He said his pick will surprise people, it did that. He hasn't decommitted or promised anyone anything. Once he decommits from UNC, then call him flaky, sure (even though I still think that's illogical, assuming he moves on to a better opportunity for him).

But so far he hasn't done anything wrong. For all we know, he'll stick with his UNC committment. Maybe not, but he deserves the benefit of the doubt. I mean, are we upset because he called 'ND his dream offer'? How many kids grow up with USC as their dream school that we recruit and some commit to us? Ebron left, which means immediate playing time in an offense that uses the TE really well. Maybe he's a UNC fan? Maybe I'm missing something?

And about passing on guys with signs of selfishness (which I don't know of for Chirs Clark). It sounds great in theory, but more often than not, the great ones come with an attitude. If you want to win with our schedule, you need some real players, even ones with me-first attitudes. I'm not saying fill an 85 man roster with a bunch of prima donas, but getting a dozen ego guys in a good environment can work.

And as for not wanting to go to a tough school - I don't blame him. I certainly wouldn't advise it, but if he wants to put all of his eggs in the NFL basket and believes in himself, I get it. If you have a unique talent, which he does, go for it. Again, my kid would be going to a school with a back up plan, but if this kid ends up in the NFL in 3 years, he wins. ND has had their fair share of players that put NFL >>> degree, and seem to be solid indivividuals who aren't a distraction (from 2013, Niklas, Tuitt).

Anyway, great pick up for UNC. Hope he still makes his visit to us and we can make it interesting.

Clarington may be a better choice for the Irish anyway. I think Bama makes a strong push for Gragg.

It's almost like he's dealing with a process that is known for lies and deception on high school kids by sophisticated parties.

Please. The kid owes us nothing. "ND is a dream offer" means "hold open a spot for me while I look around". Some of you guys take this way too personally. ND fans of all people should know, picking your school is a business decision. If being wishy-washy for message board fans means he gets an advantage, more power to him.

Then maybe we should start with the coaches instead of ripping on an 18 year old kid for doing nothing but complimenting our school and then deciding it's not the place for him.

I can't imagine being 16 or 17 years old and having everything I say being judged with the scrutiny it is nowadays. I'm 41 and would still be the worst recruit in history if my every word was scrutinized by reporters, social media , message boards etc. These are crazy times man.
