IDK how you jabronis can say Lost is either great or bad. The first two seasons were phenomenal, and after that it looked like it was written by Bogs 
.
So it was great for a time, but then terrible. Not simple one or the other, IMO.

Yeah... I watched season one, it sucked...
Anyway, back to Flight 370... My heart goes out to the families... I want to hold out hope that it was high jacked and landed somewhere and that the passengers will be rescued... though I realize how slim that is at this point.

First two seasons were great, especially the opening beach scene. Now take that and transfer it to some uncharted island and that's where these folks are.
What Gram & Bogs said is correct about cells. Wireless transmissions are a completely different technology, are not nearly as reliable or efficient as a good ol' copper land line. The only thing they share in common is that you use a device called a phone for both technologies. One is truly a phone while the other is a miniature PC with a phone app built in. Too many variables involved to get a good understanding of what caused the phones to act up, but I bet there's a reasonable explanation. I also think we'll have an answer to what happened to the plane in a few days and it won't be terrorist.

Yeah I'm going to need a judgment call here. It's on my list of shows to watch in the future. I watched seasons 1-3ish back in the day. Does it really get that bad? This is the first time I've read bad things about the later seasons...

It's not that bad. They just set the bar pretty high with the first season. The finale was a major disappointment though.

If you've watched the first couple of season and you choose to continue, I'd liken your expectations to being prepared for a threesome with two gorgeous supermodels, only to open the door and have a Vietnamese Poker Dealer sitting there in overalls, ready to give you an HJ.
So it depends what you're into.

Well I was pretty obsessed with the show. But the more supernatural it got, the less I liked it. Seasons 5 and 6 were way too heavy into supernatural stuff so I didn't like them very much. But even those seasons had some very good episodes. Season 3-4 were much worse than 1-2 but they were still very good.
For example, Season 4, Episode 5 (The Constant) was one of the best episodes I've ever seen on television.
The problem with the show was that it was so good early on that it could never meet my expectations at the end.

Naw hating on Lost is a hipster bs opinion. The show transitioned from a realistic drama to a supernatural thriller halfway through. I love both halves, but that transition is where the show "lost" some viewers. Lots of people including me hate change so the drastic departure from what many had fallen in love with was seen by some as a negative. There is also a segment of people that hate the show along with other things simply based on its popularity.
In the end Lost was a well written and acted drama that changed the way network television was constructed. Lost was ranked 5th on Empires 50 greatest TV show, and is ranked similarly on many other lists. Simply look at the wake of network television shows trying to imitate the success of lost, the event, the dome, flash forward, revolution, fringe, v, heros, invasion, jericho, 666 park avenue, falling skies, and many more im forgetting right now. These pseudo sci-fi shows that have all been failures more or less because no one is able to match the mystery and intrigue of lost.

The area over their is the Dragon Triangle where simular things to Bermuda have happened.
Interestingly though they did a review about 6 months ago on the Bermuda triangle. Because tahe Bermuda triangle has such high trafic that the amount of ships and planes lost is actually not all that high compared to other areas in terms of losses per ship/plane.
So the plane manufacture says their plane is so safe it could not have been the plane. The pilot's union group over their says there is no way it could be the pilot's fault. So everyone is playing the blame game.
I hope it is the aliens. Maybe humanity can unite against the aliens instead of uniting against each other.

Seems like a lot of TV shows have great first/second seasons, and then they start going the way of suck (Or at least they start to decline). Lost, Heroes, Walking Dead...etc

Why bring me into your drama-fest?
If I would have written Lost they would have crashed on an island of Nudist, cannibal, hedonistic, Amazons. And the flames from the crash would have burned everyone's clothes off.
The whole first season would have been about all the males getting over feelings of inadequacy, and actually being able to have an erection, because they found out the little guy who plays Harold on Person of Interest, was hung like a beast. (First thing they had to build was a wheelbarrow to haul it around.
Season Two would have been about the Amazons building a shrine for it.
That is 150 seconds of my mind's output.

The most absurd position is to hope it was aliens. If in fact aliens did take the flight, then they are capable of finding life in the galaxy (which we've been unsuccessful at), making a plane vanish and remaining undetected. In this scenario, their powers surpass ours in all measures so we are fully and unconditionally fucked.
