More bad news? Was there other bad news?

My thoughts as well... what was the other bad news?

One thing I'm not getting from that article... were the suits not tested pre-Olympics? Were Davis, etc. not doing practice runs and looking at things like drag? Would make zero sense to me for this to all of a sudden pop up now but never in practice.

Nature of beast. It can't possibly be that others are just better, someone has to be blamed.

I agree. The article reads like a sour-grapes bitchfest.

The suits were delivered to the team in January, when preliminary adjustments for fit and comfort were made for each athlete, Haley said. The company also sent a team of specialists to Sochi to help make adjustments as needed. The U.S. team tested with the Mach 39 over the last month in simulated race conditions, but had never worn it in competition until this week.

Except for Shani Davis, who owned it.

I would like to think that it's not the suit. I would never blame the suit. I'd much rather blame myself. I just wasn't able to do it today, but other people were.

Much classier than jackass Bode Miller, who blamed the weather for his loss in the downhill.

Those suits were made in collaboration with Lockheed Martin. I honestly do not believe the suits are to blame.

I don't know about the other guys but in Davis' final you could tell he did not have the energy. He was simply not moving as fast as the other top athletes. I do not believe it was the suits.

U.S. Speed Skating Federation May Switch Under Armour Suits. This is the biggest cop out. The Dutch flat out thumped them across the board, but it's the uniform.

Yeah, I've got to agree. Suit or not, they were beaten fair and square on the ice. It makes you look like poor sports when you're using excuses and not commending the winners. It's like they're trying to take something away from the winners because of their own faults.

Shani Davis was pretty classy about the whole thing. Whoever's raising the stink is making the other athletes look bad by association.

Agree, Shani just looked gassed. I'm not sure what the deal is, but I can't believe a racing suit is making most of our skaters look this way. Can we evaluate the diets? Maybe they were on Tinder too many times?

Expert on the radio today acted like this should've been expected. Said Davis is "old" and nowhere close to the favorite some ignorant people were billing him to be. In general, the guy said that this is the most bereft of talent US long track speed skating has basically ever been, and the future doesn't look much brighter unless some unknowns burst onto the scene between now and next Olympics.

Suits never once came up.

Under Armour's latest speedskating suits weren't working well with the U.S. team, so some skaters switched, including Shani Davis. The change didn't do much for him in the individual 1,500-meter race.

Davis won't have an individual medal from these Winter Olympics, placing seventh out of 34 skaters in his last attempt. He didn't publicly blame his poor performance on the new Under Armour suits, but the team made the change, and there wasn't much improvement. Overall, the Americans have underwhelmed in speedskating with no medals through half of the events. And Davis personally won't have anything to show for his time in Sochi.

This is the lamest excuse in sports in the worst setting. Disgraceful and distasteful to say the least. When you represent your country you need to be nothing but class.

IDK about you guys, but these looks like wrestling shoes got locked in Michael Jackson's closet for too long.
