Bills DC. They also apparently interviewed Schiano in FL this morning. Scraping the bottom of the barrel.
If I was a HC candidate I wouldn't go to Cleveland. Not after they fired Chud 1 year into the job. All the Browns HC job will do for you is mess up your chances of ever being a HC again. I feel the same way about the Raiders job and the Lions job.

They should have stuck with Chud. They did pretty good for a crappy team.

some food for thought/little perspective on the silly season:
Tony Barnhart was on Bill S King this morning, talking about all the worrying by fans of the coachng carousel, all the assitants chanign schools etc he said Jimbo Fisher lost 6 (six) asst coaches last year...and then won the natty this year.
his point was, fans put too much stock in the assistants and should really only worry when the head coach leaves and not any of the assitants. i tend to agree. thats why dont freak out when we lose a martin or a diaco etc...

I think this is true pretty much throughout the ranks.

This is interesting. I'm not sure I agree. I think it depends on the assistant and the school. For example, losing Alford would potentially have a devastating impact on recruiting. Let's say he left in December of 2012... we don't sign either Bryant or Folston. And then at Texas, the downfall of Mack Brown (on top of QB recruiting) was losing Muschamp and other key assistants over the years.

For certain schools and certain assistants coaches I agree that it can be irrelevant. All depends on the specific situation. No doubt the biggest tangible immediate impact is with regards to recruiting.

Some schools rely more on their assistants (Michigan), others have assistants in name only and the head coach has his hands on every facet of the program (Alabama). So it certainly varies by school. Clearly BK is a builder and not typically someone who relies tremendously on his assistants. His record of success shows this.

There are two kinds of HC's. Those who manage like a CEO and let their staff do their job and those who want to be involved in every detail. Even the ones who let their staff do their job, still give a lot of guidance and direction. They layout the framework for what they want, let their staff create it then they will have them make changes according to their direction.

Agree with this. Even the coaches that are "known" for being involved in every detail are typically not. That's why they have assistants on down. The framework and details are usually hashed out at that level and then reviewed by the HC in their scheduled meetings. Any change, direction, guidance etc. usually takes place at that point and that is typically where the HC gets more involved... some obviously more than others.

With all that, I am still not a fan of a HC being the OC or DC. I think it takes away from their ability to manage the other aspects of the game... both in the pregame prep and during the actual game.

I wonder where he ends up as DC next year after he gets fired in 10 months. No italics.

I thought he was a pretty popular member of the staff.

So apparently Joker is stepping down over a bump violation which doesn't make any sense for a guy with his reputation and stature in the game. If there isn't more to the story then I wouldn't mind seeing him join our staff.

Absolutely no way in hell this is over just a bump violation. Wonder what actually happened... must've been some pretty big dirt.

The U turning people in for recruiting violations. Pretty rich from a school that only has a football program because Emmert's people are comically incompetent.

Wow. So Miami has the balls to turn in a coach for violating the bump rule, after they got off easy on one of the worst NCAA scandals ever. Pretty hypocritical if you ask me. I want this stuff cleaned up so I'm glad he got called on it but from Miami.
