Ever had this really great commit, who with the work it took and all the surrounding drama just made you feel blah, like it wasn't worth it? Not exactly like you didn't want him to rub off on the other recruits, but close? Kind of like you knew the price you were going to pay was probably going to be way too great?

Like a 500 page book that started out great, got even better, then started to drag out with the same thing being repeated over and over only in a slightly different manner. You can't put it down because you have so much time invested in it you feel obligated to finish it, especially when you're hoping the ending will make up for the later chapters.

its not like the kid will be utilized either at ND, his impact/value will basically be the same as a kicker or a punter.

I don't agree with that. I believe that ND, like all of the other schools that want him, see him in the role he played in the Under Armour game. A scat back that can take carries out of the backfield and get lost in the crowd. A guy that catch passes out of the backfield, and finally, a slot receiver. He is a guy thats easy to get onto the field.

Yeah he'll be the "Roby Toma", but obviously much more skilled. Crazy to say he won't be utilized. I think too many of us are numbed from the Rees-era. This offense will be very dynamic for several years starting in 2014.

I agree wooly. I also see us all yelling here comes the screen every time he lines up in the slot.

Yeah, but many people thought that about Davonte Neal. I know they're different prospects with different skill sets, but most expected him to be making an impact on returns and in the slot from Day 1. They put 0 emphasis on the punt return game, and I don't think he played a meaningful snap on offense after Game 2.

Neal certainly had serious competition at RB as carries were impossible to come by with Riddick and Wood being seniors and GA being the home run threat, but our WRs consisted of Jones (good Junior year), Daniels (inconsistent RS SO) year, Toma (solid, not great player), and that's about it at WR. There was playing time for the taking there for sure. Our backfield looks crowded again next year with arguably more talent than in 2012, and our WR core definitely has more talent than in 2012. Again, they're different prospects, but Kelly doesn't have much of a track record of going out of his way to play true freshmen.

The only frosh skill players who BK has given playing time to are TJ and Rees in 2010, GA as as a returner in 2011, Neal as a returner in 2012 and Brown as a decoy at WR, the this past year obviously Folston as the year progressed and then at WR there was situational work with Fuller pretty much as a deep threat, JO as a blocker, and Robinson as a deep ball guy. I wouldn't blame a RB/WR recruit for assuming that he won't make much of an impact in Year One.

Corey and Will. James, too. James was utilized for his blocking, so he actually got quite a few snaps.

They're in the last paragraph already.

I could be 100% wrong. IM has a unique skill set and it might be one that BK has never had at ND and one that has to be out on the field quite often. Just don't think his track record here makes me think that a frosh is going to be anything other than used very sparingly.

Yes I have, but not IM. I truly believe this is a kid that will be Nix-like in our minds once he is finished at ND. Sure the last month has been a little bumpy - he has gotten more attention than he ever has before - he is a teenager and it has to be making his head spin. In the end, he comes to ND, works his tail off to be a model ND student-athlete, and makes some crazy great plays for ND football. IMO

I am still out front in the IM caravan.

That is a hell of a lot of growing to do.

(Don't feel bad they do this to me, all the time.)

There is nothing more difficult than predicting a players growth from one year to the next. You just can't say. Just like you cannot predict how high school competition compares to college. The speed of the game is a bigger obstacle than most give it credit.

I second that emotion. Music and lyrics supplied by Smoky Robinson.

I was just kidding, sans italics. I understand your point. And what I was trying to say was : "As BK gets the guys and the overall classes he wants, it will be interesting to see if he starts using more young skill guys."

I don't think his frame can actually handle that amount of growth.

I agree. I just really have taken a liking to this kid's perseverance in getting his academics together in a short time period. If that is any indication, I have no worries he can grow into a young man Notre Dame fans can be proud of for his accomplishments on-the-field and off.

According to a poster on BGI he read that Muschamp tried to get him commit last night during his in home and he didn't. If true this would be a good sign.

according to a gator site one of their sources said : I also talked to a few other people who told me that Florida is looking very good for receiver Isaiah McKenzie and that he’s now thinking about distance which hurts Notre Dame

Man, this kid is making me nervous!!!!! I have thought for a long time that he was 100% Irish and we got a diamond in the rough but the twists and turns that have started to happen are making me check on his recruitment ever day.

With his academic issues, IM has always been a long-shot; even when he was "committed".
