My problem with this is that we have not gotten the type of player that Mckenzie or Quick or Neal are. The Wide Receiver that is thick enough and quick/fast enough to take two to three handoffs per game. Carlisle can do this but this is the player I really want in this offense.

TJ Jones? Fuller? Both have gotten handoffs. And we had Neal and he, frankly, didn't do much on offense his freshman year. We've got two more years with Carlisle. And most aren't too worried about losing Atkinson, who basically has the same skill set.
I'd love if we land McKenzie because I think he's really talented, but I guess I'm not going to get that stressed about a role player one way or the other. Much more important to get studs in positions that'll play every down.

Personally the main I reason I wanted McKenzie is A) return man B) bigger in roads into American Heritage (McFadden and Gibson in 2015). Still not sold we would use McKenzie much on actual offense even if he came.

TJ wasnt really built for but did a really good job. Did fuller take handoffs? Neal could have had a place in that offense. Its that Deanthony Thomas Role, or the role that runningback/ receiver played for Auburn. We make up for because of our TE productivity, but it could have a big role in our offense. Not necessary, but could be explosive for our offense.

I agree with this entirely, and this probably belongs in another forum, that is just the way I see our offense progressing. Though he could have eventually been used in the Deanthony Thomas role.

From Loy again. He's taking this hard haha:
I'll tell you, when I received word that Mckenzie got the green light, my commitment story was almost done. Reached out to Mckenzie for final confirmation that he was still "committed" and he hit me with a "no." Trust me, I was as surprised as the staff was. I'm told Alford is none to pleased with the situation.

Lol I think Loy's taking McKenzie's recruitment a little to personally. Just posted this

Lol he really is. I get it though. Loy stuck up for McKenzie all fall. Whenever anyone called him dumb or lazy, Loy would say how hard he was working and what a great kid he is. He must feel almost as betrayed as Alford does.

1. This is not on the coaches. They did not do Isaiah dirty AT ALL.

2. Loy is about the only one who is saying that he is a take right now. Most others still think he isn't a take. The two people I've been talking to about this and who have nailed everything still don't think he's a take. And if he's a take, why is he taking the test again???

Also, I dunno if NDinLA is reading this thread or still around, but everything he said to me a few weeks ago is a million percent correct and what's going on. So come out and take a bow if you want dude lol

Haha, it's not me, it's the people who really know their sh!t that feed me this info, which like you said, has been spot on. I know you and Loy are BFF's now lol, but he's about the only one surprised by Isaiah's sudden attitude change. Isaiah puts it on nice when he is around reporters and seems like a great kid, but there's more to it than that. Much more.

Again, I'm not going to rip on the kid, but there's more than meet's the eye here. He's not some happy-go-lucky-aw-shucks-I-really-want-to-go-to-ND angel that many in the media portray him to be. Lax pointed out some stuff, and there's more than that. And from what I hear his scores are REALLY low. Combine that with bad grades, and I don't see (and have never seen) how he can handle a place like ND. Davaris and Golson did much better in high school and ND was so hard for them that they resorted to doing things that got them kicked out of school for a semester.

Look, it's a cry now or cry later thing with a player like this. Cry now that he doesn't get in, or cry later when he gets kicked out because ND is just too hard. Or push for a culture change at ND where the professors let athletes slide by, tutors do the work, ResLife overlooks EVERYTHING, players don't have to attend class, etc etc. And that ain't gonna happen.

For us or for everyone? If hes a take for other schools and is still retaking the test, to me thats a good sign.

I was really close to going ahead and committing to Notre Dame,” McKenzie told Rebels247. “Before I did, I decided that I needed to take a look at a few other places and be sure.”

McKenzie now plans to take a closer look at a couple of the new schools that have offered.

“I switched my Florida visit to the 17th and I will be at Ole Miss on the 24th,” McKenzie explained. “I don’t know about making a third visit yet.”

Such a kick in the sack (assuming he really is a take for ND at this point). On the other hand, it could be taken to mean that he has seen everything he needs to see from ND and is only visiting other schools to make sure ND is the right choice. I fucking can't with this recruitment anymore lol

looks like down to them and us for the last official on that last weekend.

He really doesn't need to take an OV to ND. He already spent three-four days on campus back in June. Like Piombino said, he's seen all he needs to see about ND.

I'm hoping that's all this is. Otherwise, this really is a giant slap in the face.

Because of all the time ND invested in his recruitment with the undertanding that if/when he became eligible, he would instantly be a take. Every second used on his recruitment is time that could have been spent on another recruit, one who was eligible at the time, and perhaps at a position of need. That's how.

Seems like after all his hard work getting his academics in order he is finally going to enjoy the process. I want him here, but I hope he chooses the school best for him and has a good future.

So you're saying that every recruit that doesn't choose ND is slapping ND in the face by wasting resources?

Isaiah is the one that put in the work to become eligible, and he doesn't owe anyone anything.

If ND offers a guy and then tells him he's not a take (a la Hendrix), then we are also wasting that recruit's time. As someone said upthread, McKenzie doesn't owe us anything, and it's hypocritical to criticize him for evaluating new offers that he's just received.

Don't know about that, but I wish I had a hundred dollars for every recruit that used ND as an insurance policy, from the kids who worked worry free through Junior year spring and summer sport and senior football, to the kids that had high school surgery and would have been guaranteed a four year education if the surgery hadn't gone well.

Didn't Isaiah come in for game this past year? I think he ends up here as long as Alford keeps in good touch with him.
