A lot of you seem to think JuJu might be coming
There is always more to these things that meet the eyes. I personally would have taken him, bc he fits a build that could turn into a DOG LB pretty easy, but at the sametime, where do you get him PT at Dog. I think Baratti is on a good schedule, and he gets a 5th year. That changes the numbers chart a little bit as he was on schedule to play 4 years at this time last year. ND is the favorite to land Morgan. Does that give Tranquill a shot at Safety or Dog first? Do they feel comfortable with Hardy/Shumate/Baratti/Redfield/Farley to go ahead and go all in for JuJu?
There are many different situations to tell a player to hold off. I think it was just one of those bad timing things, coupled with so so Senior film. I do think that ND would have accepted his commitment if he tried to after the usc game. Recruiting is a momentum game as much as the game on the field. I think that is why ND stayed out of declining they didnt fully take McKenzie for so long. I have a feeling they were aware he was going to pop Friday before the usc game, and hoped that would steamroll some other commitments. Like I have said in the past, that usc weekend wasnt exactly a weekend where they expected to get verbals vs getting these kids a first hand experience of what ND has to offer.
We are literally stacked at Safety.. How is this a backfire? Unless the kid is a surefire AA, its not abackfire
So missing on a kid because of leaked info is only a backfire if the kid is a surefire AA? Is there even such thing as a "sure fire AA" anymore?
The fact is that the staff wants another safety, hence them still pursuing JuJu and telling Hendrix that he was up next. So if we end up missing on both (which I think is likely now), this backfired on the coaches.
Loy said what everyone else has been saying, Hendrix tried to commit, staff said wait. A little time passes and he was ready to end the process and we said no thanks. Said things could change but doesn't see it with limited spots left. The staff wanted to hold out for guys higher on the board.... And they still think we still have a great shot at JuJu... I just don't see it.
Eggs on faces in February but whatever. The staff is closer to this than we will ever be.
Or ... There isn't a need at Safety and they are Ok with selling out for a rare talent. We've taken plan B at other positions with less depth. Our Safety position is stacked therefore Coaches can be picky
Was there a signifcant need for another DL when we had Day on board and Schutt wanted in? not really but bet your ass we could use him now.....

I'm sorry, I feel Juju is about a 5% chance of coming to ND. Why are people so optimistic?
Huge difference when one person plays your position compared to three and a deep rotational philosophy
You don't sign 5 QBs because they're the top 5 overall in the nation
In relation to recruiting, why? If anything, it should be easier to handle the recruiting situation with positions where rotating players is possible. At least at NT, you can tell a kid that only one plays at a time. In this scenario, you are saying that he isn't good enough to be included in a depth chart. Which is far more insulting.
Again... we are all aware that slow playing certain prospects are part of the game. Making it apparent to the recruiting sites, etc that a kid is a second choice is a mistake though. In this case, it certainly seems like the staff didn't protect that info from the receruiting sites, whom have no issue with screaming it from the roof tops. This made choosing someone other than ND an easy choice for Hendrix.
Huh? I know you're trying to prove your point about holding out for a higher ranked recruit, but I fail to see how your comment does that.
Btw if the top 3 safeties in the country all wanted to commit to ND, I'm sure we'd take all 3. 5 is kinda pushing it.
Trust the staff have this figured out, but I hate to pass up on a guy who wants to commit. I may be prejudiced, but I love recruits from Texas. They understand the game and receive great training from an early age.
