I think the kid has a lot to think about here.
2nd Rd grade is something he can def work with. He has a chance to take advantage of his dream and get to the NFL and sign a contract that will set him up for life. We know what kind of talent he is when healthy, and what kind of kid he is. Tuitt has more than enough time between now and the combine to get into tip top, mind blowing shape for someone his size and get some of the testing drills mastered. He goes into Indy looking like a freak and runs a 4.8 or lower, all of a sudden he starts shooting back up those draft boards.
I really dont think theres any question in most peoples minds that if he does choose to come out, hes going to get taken in the 1st round assuming he just flat out blow ass at the combine and pro day. There are 6'6 315 guys, and then theres Stephon Tuitt. He can play the run and pass rush with anyone in the country. Clowney and Lynch probably pass rush better than him overall, but hes going to stop the run better than them. Id say the gap between their pass rushing and tuitt is smaller than their run D and Tuitt.
Obviously the other side is, he can comeback and play himself into a 1st rd grade next fall. But, is he going to play himself into that much higher of a draft pick? Thats the question that he needs to ask himself. I think with a healthy off-season he can play himself into a top 10 pick, but who is to say a great combine this year wont do that. Like I said earlier, 6'6 315 guys with his speed/strength/athleticism dont just grow on trees.
As a ND fan I hope he does comeback bc I think he might be the difference between a good bowl and a playoff appearance. But, if I was him, Id probably go if I thought I was healthy enough to get ready for that combine. If not, Id stick around, but the combine will make or break that draft grade. I mean Bruce Campbell went from an unknown to a top 10 pick just bc he blew up in Indy. Tuitt actually has talent haha.
