He also said blacks were better under Jim Crow laws, which is a much worse comment. I am surprised that's not the comment that was getting him in trouble. That's a terrible comment.

This is the same BS smear tactic the press is using.

He didn't "compare homosexuality to beastiality". The writer asked him what he thought was sinful and his response was;

"Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men."

It was a list, not a comparison. You are putting words in his mouth that he never said. Same for the Jim Crow statement. It's getting less press because its less offensive. He just said that he didn't see blacks angry at white people during the time. That they worked together in the fields and everyone was happy. But spin it however best fits your agenda.

I think part of what got him in trouble is how he said it. If all he had said was as a Christian man I am against homosexuality, I don't think there is such a blow up but his comments definitely were a little rough.

He wasn't interested in his beliefs, otherwise he would have asked questions like "how has faith helped your family stay close?" or "how has faith helped you overcome adversity?"

He didn't ask those types of questions because those answers don't get clicks or sell magazines. He is the journalistic version of a shock jock.

Agreed. But people in the public eye generally have to be more careful with what they say and how they answer questions, it is part of being famous (the negative side of it). There is no doubt that the writer was baiting him.

To be honest, I wouldn't blame them for walking away. They have a strong family and have made it clear that their relationship is priority one. So if the show gets in the way of that, they should take the money and run.

We're the losers in that situation.
