Has anyone here tried Brooklyn Brewery's Black Chocolate Stout?

I was at the liquor store last night and thought a good, sturdy beer would make a good stocking stuffer for my son.

Any thoughts, comments or warnings? It's only a four pack and I have a few more shopping days before Christmas.

I have never had it but the reviews for it are very good.

Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout - Brooklyn Brewery - Brooklyn, NY - BeerAdvocate

I say go for it.

I admit that my eyes glazed when I was perusing the shelves upon shelves of "craft" beers. When will the seemingly endless stream of bizarre and cutesy names dry up? I went with something close to my place of birth – Manhattan.

As I see it, he got me a (as in one, solo, solitary, all alone and lonely) bottle of Left Hand Brewing Co.'s Milk Stout Nitro. I liked it. Being the Good Dad that I am, I figured that he deserves more than one, whether he likes it or not.

Hell, he can always cook bratwurst in it.

I have. Very good beer. I like the packaging, too.

Okay, I need to buy some bourbon to make a pie for Christmas. Honestly, I'm old school and my plan was to just buy some Jim Beam. I know that might not cut it for some of the palates around here, so I'd like to get some opinions. I am going to use a shot or two for the pie I make, but what should I get? I do want to enjoy it after the pies are made...

Thanks pkt and gk. I'll declare my Christmas shopping officially done. Over. Kaput. Todo. [And for the Bogslogger] Rinneadh.

Drink well. Laugh well. Enjoy well. Appreciate fully.

Personally, I'm a big fan of Maker's Mark.

Golden Road Cabrillo Kolsh and Bootleggers Old World Hefe...

Like both but the Hefe was excellent.

How much do you want to spend and what do you like in a bourbon?

I picked up a 12 pack of Sierra Nevada Celebration today for $13. Great beer at a crazy low price.

Their Point the Way IPA is ok but their Wolf Among Weed DIPA is very good IMO.

Off memory the corner store that acts as a mini bev mo I'm hitting up shortly has only one IPA... Ill look into it..

Thanks

North Coast Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout. A damn good stout for those who enjoy them.

Also started to brew my own beer. Have a Oktoberfest style ready to be bottled on Christmas. I am going to make a hobby of it and hopefully get decent enough to make some exotic tasty drinks. We'll see how it goes.
