What is the "uniform surprise"?

^^They were having this discussion the other day on sports radio. Apparently NW released a statement explaining that its not blood, but rather the look of a tattered flag. To me its BS. They are phenomenal in appearance and so is the cause they are for.

Yeah, I can see where they're coming from, some of those spots are ambiguous between blood and tatters, which I'm sure was intentional. But they're far from the focal point of the uniform, you'd really have to be looking for something to get mad about to even notice them. The 10% figure? If it's 10% of profits, as opposed to revenue, THAT is something to get mad about.

I think you are basically correct. It also seems there was some initial talk of 100% of profits, but thats only for the game worn unis if I read it correctly.

I mean, if they don't give more than 10% of profits from what you sell in the store, this isn't charity for Under Armor, its advertising of the scummiest kind. I'm not ok with playing on public sympathy for wounded vets to make a buck.

I'm a vet and have no problem with those uniforms.

i am not a vet so I'm not going to say whether i like them or not. but i would like to say to anyone that buys the "teathered flag" talk, I have some beach front property here in Indy that is for sale.

I can see where the design might look like blood on the red/whte side, but if you notice, the blue side with the stars has the same design too, so it wasn't like just the red side had that design. I think it's moreso the power of suggestion.

You put it perfectly.

Uni Watch » Adidas Gives Birth to a One-Pound Baby Ball
Uni Watch Exclusive! Big changes possibly afoot for Notre Dame: A little birdie from South Bend, who I happen to trust, checked in last night with some interesting news about potentially big doings in the land of the golden dome. Here’s what the birdie had to say:

I don’t have all the details yet, but it appears that Notre Dame will announce major renovations and changes to Notre Dame Stadium. In May, the University officially announced a study into the feasibility of creating a multi-use stadium facility. The results of the study and the next steps will apparently be announced next month. My contacts who’ve seen some of the possibilities are very impressed. It appears that the stadium will add field turf, a jumbotron of some type, and some luxury seating and student-use areas beyond football.

The Notre Dame old guard are losing their minds over the possibility of a jumbotron and plastic field. The school permanently destroyed the stadium in 1996-97, when they built the modified version around the historic stadium. The modified version is trashy modern and really doesn’t represent the university well. They need to get this right, or else they will lose a ton of support forever.

Also: Notre Dame signed a 10-year deal with Adidas in 2005, and rumors are rampant that school officials met with Adidas on Tuesday to tell them that the university will not be continuing the relationship. I have not confirmed if that means immediate termination or non-renewal. Nike is mentioned as the likely replacement.

None of this is confirmed yet, so take that for what it’s worth.
Louis Nix caught wind of this too

“@1IrishChocolate: Rumor Alert: Notre Dame to Nike!?!? #WTFudge”

EDIT: Annnnd I just noticed this is already posted in the jumbotron thread.

You think old timers are going to be pissed about video boards and field turf?

Just wait for the impending eyeball vomit.

Besides the "cool" factor, aren't nike, Adidas, and UA the same? And isn't UA cool?

I really won't care the more I think about this, I'm literally fine with any of them.

Really can't wrap my head around anyone who would be legitimately upset about it, disapproving, sure. But it's all the same shit.

UA seems "amateurish". Please ND pick Nike

Notre Dame would be by far the largest brand that Under Armour sponsors.

Under Armour Sponsored D1 FBS schools:
USF
Temple
Boston College
Maryland
Texas Tech
Northwestern
Hawaii
Colorado State
Utah
South Carolina
Auburn

Fuck that Under Armour is ugly. Worse than Adidas and so so much worse than Nike

I wouldn't say UA is ugly, but if we're not switching to Nike then just forget it.

It probably has something to do with where all this shit gets made and how it gets made and who makes it. We'll end up with some eco-friendly crap that's super expensive because it's certified by the UN labor bullshit organization or something.

In other news, I'm a cynic.

UA has to be shelling out a shitload to be a leading candidate. Trying to catch a big fish.

Bags o' cash.
