So what you guys are saying is we need to have a football player parents weekend, so that all the recruits (and their parents) can meet the Bon Jovis, the Robinsons, the Hunters, etc...

if only there was a thread on here that listed all the ND players with famous parents..

“@FballIsLife69: Just Got Done With My In Home Visit With Notre Dame!! Great Visit With @CoachBrianKelly 😎😎😎#ND #Irish”
Wonder if they told him about Diaco
Per 247, He had a great talk and spending time with Kelly, Elston and Elliott. The coaches spoke with his coach and his mom. They talked about he would fit in the system and as a student athlete. Diaco leaving will have no impact on him. He didn't have a relationship with Diaco. He believes they will bring in an elite DC.
Who is "he" in this sentence?
Matt believes this or the guy from 247 believes this.
Thanks.
Ewww ...
Wiltfong just posted that he doesn't see Elam ending up at ND. He thinks if it's not Bama, it'll be UK. (He didn't explain; I think that's just his gut feeling, so tifwiw.)

What did I do? Was that already posted? I thought I checked but my bad if so.

Furk, guess it's 4-3 time. Kinda wonder if a new coordinator, whether it be internal (most likely) or not, would continue to use the 3-4 anyway.
Why do people keep going down this 4-3 road? The 3-4 is the preferred defense of BRIAN KELLY. Any DC will be coaching Kelly's 3-4 defense. That isn't changing.

Probably due to the absence of a 330+ 2 gap NT, the key essential piece to most successful 3-4 defenses.
Disagree that such a player is essential. Kona is under 300 and he is just fine as a NT. Cwynar was too.
We have plenty of guys who can play NT. Jarron Jones and Springmann are both 300+ big bodies who have experience on the nose and will do just fine there next year. Other big bodies like Rochell, Tuitt, Dickerson, Day, Jay Hayes could all potentially take reps there (depending on how some of those guys, particularly the younger ones, develop physically). I'm not worried about it and very much doubt that we will go to a 4-3 base, especially when all the other pieces of the D have been recruited for a 3-4 base. Now, we will play a lot of situational 4-down, but a real system change ... don't see it, never have. Maybe it's just me.

The nose tackle and the inside linebackers, those are three guys that are very important. But when you go through it, the nose tackle is probably the single-most important guy. --Joe Collier, Denver Broncos assistant (1969–1988), architect of the "Orange Crush Defense"
To those guys that say the NT isn't that important in the 3-4:
After Bud Wilkinson, Collier was probably one of the first 3-4 experts. I would think Wilkinson would think the same way. Nose Tackle is considered the most physically demanding position in football. You are essentially asked to control the A gap, the center of all the action, and typically eat up at least 2 blockers. Typically in the 3-4 you're asking 3 DL to eat up 4 blockers, or sometimes 5, so your linebackers are free to make plays. If your NT isn't capable of the job, that makes it harder on your DE's and then your LBs.
I think JJ can play the position. Now that he has the coach's trust, I think he'll emerge as a good player. He probably won't be on the level of Nix, maybe if he plays all 4 years. The prospects behind him are a little worrying though, we're obviously not deep at the position, and JJ is still inexperienced. To make matters worse, we've struggled picking up ILBs, which is probably the #2 most important position in the 3-4. It's no wonder theres talk that we'll shift to a 4-3, especially since we're picking up an abundance of guys that can play as either 4-3 DE or maybe CAT/OLB.
