Alabama would surely match that.......money can't be the motivator for him.
They would have to do more than match it. There isn't any personal income tax in Texas.

Shannon Terry (CEO of 24/7 Sports) keeps saying that the chances of Saban leaving are in the negative %'s at this point. Now normally I wouldn't put much into what he says but he is a huge Bama supporter and if there is any program he would have sources at, it would be there.
But that's the issue. It seems everyone at Bama is blindly believing that everything is a'ok because that's what Nick is telling them and/or that's what they want to put out there. All Bama sources indicate he's staying put.
Every single other source is ADAMANT he's gone. Who to believe? I don't know. But I'm guessing the external sources. Either that, or this is the greatest leverage move of all time.

“@slmandel: Just remember how Texas/DeLoss Dodds vehemently shot down @ChipBrownOB's Sept. report the AD was stepping down and then he did just that.”
little off this topic, but fickel is rumored to be a top candidate to replace clawson at BG
Interesting.
I was just in Columbus and I don't think they'd be sorry to see him go.
Gil Brandt reporting that Saban in negotiations with Bama for 7/year+.... it will be absolutely crazy if they force out Brown and are left holding the bag if this all turns out to be an epic leverage move.
If that happens, is Texas after another coach? Shaw? Briles? Kelly?
If he's being forced out, they have to make a statement hire, and I'd assume they have someone in the works not named Nick Saban.
IMO, Briles is most likely from the names you mentioned. Shaw probably least likely.

There was an article somewhere... can't find it, but someone linked it here or on ISD... that said that there were basically a couple tiers of coaches they were looking at with different compensation already ready for each.
The first was Saban at like an absurd $10 mil a year. After that was Malzahn and I forget who else... and I think David Shaw brought up the back of the pack. So they apparently do have a short list.
Anyone remember this article? Or who it was by?
James Franklin is the easy pick (as in a good coach that would definitely take it) IMO
Briles just signed a 10 year extension....

No way, imo.
Slam dunk hire would be Will Muschamp. Depending on your definition of "slam dunk".I'm with you. UT wants a slam dunk hire.
I posted that I believe? Or maybe I just reposted in on Facebook? Anyway, here's the link but the article has been taken down: http://www.burntorangenation.com/2013/11/24/5139922/gus-malzahn-next-ut-coach
Tier 1: Saban and Urban
Tier 2: Briles, Gundy, Malzahn
Honorable Mention: Shaw
But the article said Saban was a smokescreen for Malzahn...
