Sucks, but at least the staff knows. Lots of time now to focus their efforts elsewhere.

Right, I feel the same way. It's a bummer, but the staff has time to make a late move on another big body.

Even with a good class, staff is failing a lot with high-rated prospects this year. Good luck Thomas, but ND > PSU!

Apparently the Diaco visit did not make up the requisite ground. We are 'off the board' for Holley per BGI. Defensive scheme and campus feel were two reasons cited. If that's the case, I will gladly look elsewhere.

I agree.

Loy also posted that he heard that the challenging academic schedule at ND may have been a negative for Holley. If there's any truth to that, then Holley and ND just aren't a match. He just didn't want to buy what we are selling.

Haha what a joke.

Have fun at that 50,000 kid cesspool in the middle of the state.

Loy also mentioned that our rigorous academic standards worked against us here as well. Not that he wouldn't qualify, but that he is wanting an easier work load basically.

If that is the case, then so be it. Good luck to him and I hope that even with the "easier" course load, he takes it seriously wherever he ends up.

Kid may want to reconsider OSU then.

Maybe he is? Who is it down to now that we're out? PSU and...Florida?

I really thought we had a pretty good shot to make it till the end. We did what the parents asked as far as recruiting policy, Hayes was getting buddy buddy with him, and I thought he said he really enjoyed his stay when he came (Or am I thinking of someone else?). Regardless, we'll be okay if thats the way this goes. Maybe we can still get Elam, I think I'd rather have him in the middle anyway, it would be much easier for him to eat up 2 blockers at his size.

I think OSU was eliminated. I thought it was a PSU, UF, ND race. Could be confusing him and Elam, however.

Yeah, they were eliminated, but is he really serious about going to Florida? Doesn't seem like that really fits with the way his recruiting has gone, he seems to want to stay close to home. If we're out, I'm wondering what's keeping him from verbaling to PSU right now.

Yeah, thats what I've been hearing, his uncle isn't very wise. I don't understand how PSU has been able to reel in these kids that don't get to play for a championship or bowl until they're seniors, much less the opportunity for a better education and more exposure.

They're eligible in 2016. Depending on whether a player redshirts or not, they'd get three bowls. Either way, but they time they're upperclassmen they'll be bowl eligible.

2014: Freshman | RS
2015: Sophomore |RS Freshman
2016: Junior | RS Sophomore
2017: Senior | RS Junior
2018 _____ | RS Senior

Additionally, Penn State's northeast recruiting grounds are filled with shitty programs. Going something like 9-3 at Penn State and not going to a bowl game is better than when Syracuse, Rutgers, Connecticut, Boston College, etc offer.

exactly -- If i had an offer from all these programs only, Id choose PSU hands down

that being said, I expect that kind of decision from an "upstate" player. I live in Niagara Falls -- ND, PSU, Cuse are the three big teams -- so choosing PSU wouldnt surprise me. Being that hes from downstate, its a little surprising PSU has a such a strong horse in this race

Some info on 247 suggesting he's headed to Florida not PSU. Joke's on him... that whole staff will be gone next year.

Its arguably the worst coaching job in the BCS this year.

Why do you feel that way? I think Florida is still a premier job. There's a lot of talent on that team, they have a great recruiting base, play in the SEC and they pay well (and no state income tax). If that job opens up, I would assume that it would be highly coveted.

I thought he meant that no BCS coaching staff has done a poorer job this year than Florida's.

Exactly. Like you said Wooly there is a lot of talent of that team. To only win 4 games and lose to Georgia Southern is down right pathetic, IMO. That has poor coaching written all over it.

What is the average salary for a freshman FB player at UF? lol

Very young team, and ravaged by injury. A ton of bad luck. Not making excuses for them as I hate UF, but they did have more challenges than most. That said, they still underperformed IMHO.
