I would probably promote Alford. I think he could continue being a great recruiter and attract kids that would want to play in an offense under his watch.

I can't argue with your logic, but I guess you have to ask the question, "How would being in charge of the ENTIRE offense affect the time that he has, to put into recruiting?" If those new responsibilities take time away from his active recruiting, or even his background work that goes into recruiting, then would he remain as effective? I'd say that's a conversation that he and Kelly will probably most certainly have.

That would be a good move IMO. Maybe Hendrix would get a chance to play in a less pressurized situation. He can relax, play his game, and enjoy his last season before going off to med school. I hope it happens.

I agree. Hendrix may have struggled on the field, but he never struggled off. Was always a class act and represented Notre Dame and the team with integrity and commitment.

I like having Andrew on the sideline with a gold helmet on. But if he chooses to go with Martin, I'd be happy for him.

it is very possible for two running qbs to get dinged up...Andrew is a nice insurance policy...he has some field vision issues I think, but he can run, and he can at times get the ball there...I think he is a serviceable QB...

How exactly do we know that?

As mentioned he did ok against Stanford '11. I think he threw some nice balls in spring games where his reads were limited to one side of the field including the middle, and they were intermediate and in. I think he suffers when he has to see the field in front of crossing routes...I think whatever deep ball accuracy he had is now gone...atrophy of sorts. I think he can suffer from a little panic, again lack of game time action. He does have wheels, and when he is calm, and his head is able to slow things down at game speed...he can hurt folks with his feet or a quick pitch or pass. I think the limited action we saw this year was a kid too far removed from game speed decision making. If forced into action I think after a half he'll get things to slow down to where he can make short quick throws or run....and he'd be effective enough to beat some folks if the D tightens up. I don't hold out hope for the deep ball...I think he has range...but timing and accuracy...meh, its probably not going to be there unless he goes with Martin and is the everyday QB...and gets all the reps....even then its hard to say.

I don't think Andrew is Tommy...but you may not ever see another Tommy. His ability to be the backup, and come in cold and execute in a small window of time w/o any time to acclimate...its rare...so we were spoiled there...I wouldn't expect that type of productivity from any backup unless they had extended duty.

so we need a QB coach and LB coach

imo BK will go after the best available on the defensive side of the ball with the luxury of being able to move guys like Elston, Elliott, and Cooks around to a different position in order to find the best fit.

QB coach will most likely have to be a proven dude with a good track record with QB's

Neuheisel was a guest at one of BK's coaching camps so there is some connection there.

Did not know that. I always thought he had a good offensive mind, but was a train wreck of a HC.

What do you mean, Neuheisel had the great foresight to play Anthony Barr on the offensive side of the ball.
