We haven't been a very "aggressive" defense all year. We just haven't blitzed a whole lot because for the most part we don't have to, our front 4 can create pressure on their own. We can also drop 8 and keep everything in front of us. We could perhaps blitz a tad more just to keep Wittek off balance but I wouldn't expect the Jim Johnson era Eagles defense out there.

Fundamentals win everytime...no turnovers, control lines of scrimmage, good special teams play. Hope Irish D line can swarm, and if Irish can run it will be a good night.

They threw out a stat earlier in the show that Corso is 19-0 when picking headgear in games that involved USC. Here's to making it 20-0!

Agree. This is what I'm saying. No need to bring more than normal, both because our front 4 can get enough pressure on enough plays and because we don't want to leave our DBs one-on-one with their WRs.

I agree. They may grind a few drives but come away with field goal attempts. I do think Russell may get a shot at some point in the game to blitz and it may be a game changer.

Could see Russell coming off the edge too, but that's the kind of thing where you pick your spot when you think you can confuse the inexperienced QB. And yes to the FGs. Just like we'll want to consume some clock on offense, we'll want to do the same any time they put together a drive. And hold 'em to an attempt for 3, not 7. It'll be tough for them to put 7's on the board as long as we don't give up big plays, including on special teams.

Kiffin is going to call a wild game.. I expect him to go for it on 4th anywhere near mid-field, fake punts/FGs and try a few trick plays.

He has no shame and nothing to lose.. Our defense just needs to stay disciplined until Kiffin and his noob of a QB give this game away.

I agree. He won't make the same mistake as two years ago in being so conservative with a backup QB. Wittek is supposed to be a gunslinger, and I expect to see that. Think they'll start with some quick, short throws - both to open up the running game and to open up downfield. At least I think that'll be their gameplan. Actually pulling it off, of course, will be something different altogether.

And yes, too, to 4th downs, trick plays, etc. Nothing to lose for SC as far as this season is concerned.

I think we see a lot of wide reciever screens. Get it in the playmakers hands. Those screens have gave ND trouble this year.

ive tried napping as some sort of time machine. i couldnt sleep last night not sure why i thought i could sleep as we get closer..

I've waited so long for this. Lets close out this season and make sure we leave no doubt who's number 1.


It's been a great year, IE family, thank you guys for putting up with my crap. You're like a family. No matter what happens, it's been an incredible season and has exceeded my expectations.

And thank you #5. Words cannot thank you enough for what you've done for this team.
