Agreed... big decision here for Kelly.

Safe choice is to promote from within, but I think a splashy outside hire could really help us. He really nailed the Hiestand hire.

Look for Miami (OH) to be on our schedule in a few years.

Might have an impact on a couple prospects. I'm not sure. He was the lead on a lot of local/Chicago guys... and Barnett liked Chuck Martin.

Might have impact on Williams, Morgan, and Sykes... we'll see. If anyone, I'd probably say Morgan but I dunno... recruiting is very fluid.

Was a blast off the very top façade in Yankee Stadium, mammoth bomb.

I'd love a splash hire that could focus on playcalling. I'd rather BK do the HC thing on the sidelines rather than playcall.

I either want Kelly back to calling, or ideally a coach specialized in uptempo spread play (ala a chip Kelly kind of guy)

Feel like chuck was too traditional.

id rather have a hire who could recruit the hell out of Chicago and care less about the specialist aspect -- we can find someone to be an OC, hire from within, but we need to recruit even more ... Example -- If there is a RB coach who can recruit chicago really well, hire him, move Alford to OC

i understand he was their recruiter...but the targets besides barnett weren't playing on his side of the ball....morgan is basically being recruited by BK and sykes has just gotten into it...so i doubt this has any impact...

If we promote from within, give me Denbrock and a QB guru

If we hire from the outside, give me someone to run Auburn's offense. Spread a D out and run it down their throat.

Wow, this is a bit of a surprise to me. Has this been a rumor floating around and I missed it? Or is this totally out of the blue?

George Whitfield? Golsons QB Guru?

The good news is Martin is not going to a school that he'll be able to sell to the guys he's been recruiting in either the '14 or '15 class. Best of luck to you Chuck. Hope you win the MAC.

Exactly what I was thinking. Double benefit of keeping a recruiting ace in Denbrock on the staff with a big raise/title, and then you also get a true QB coach in here.

I think they will go this route and my only question is who is the QB guru going to be? One of the guys outside of the CFB ranks like Whitfield or Clarkson? A hire of a current assistant somewhere? Will be interesting.

Not a huge loss in my opinion, the play calling got better as the season went along but i think ND can find a better spread offense coordinator. I guarantee you if Kelly does not promote from within people will be kicking down the door for the job
