I got to think it's Iowa or ND. He wouldn't want to play against big bro would he? Sure others have, but I like my angle better.

one thing urban has going for him is Kerry Coombs who has HUGE ties to the Cincy area. probably the only one who can rival BK.

i feel better about this being he's from SW ohio compared to NE where urban and ann arbor seem to own, but we've snagged a couple over the years

Off-topic and late, but it would be nice to see Coombs get the Miami (OH) job. It would take away one of Urban's biggest advantages in recruiting the greater Cincinnati area.

Chose to go to UM/OSU over the Iron Bowl. Wiltfong thinks his top 4, in no particular order, are Iowa, ND, UM, and OSU.

Thanks for the info. I'd actually argue this is a good thing.

Watching UM get trounced in the cold weather, with fans already turning on Hoke? But then there's the OSU interest. Damn.

i hope coombs gets a head coaching job soon...if he's gone i really like our chances, but as long as he's in cbus, it's going to be tough to recruit cincy in recruiting battles with urban

He said that the atmosphere for the ND-Mich game was better than today's, as was FSU-Clemson.

Wanted to get back there today to build relationships with the coaches.

He's considering UM for the academic (please no old arguments about this), the game day atmosphere, and the fan base.

I have to disagree with the bolded. We won plenty of Moeller and St. X battles with Tressel when OSU was the #1 team in the country. I think it's at worst and even playing field in the Cinci area.

If that is what is important for him, I have to assume that we top Michigan for two of those three (not sure about game day atmosphere bc I have not been to UM for a game).

We won plenty of battles recruiting in Cincy against Tressel, sure. But Tressel didn't have Coombs. Coombs knows Cincy and will always give Urban the inside track on the Cincy recruits. I think that was his point.

But we got this going for us too. BK was at Cincy and I am sure he knows those guys well.

BK does know cincy, but coombs was a high school coach at one of the top programs in the cincy area for decades. not to mention he was the recruiter for the cincy area for BK when he was on his staff at Cincy.

one thing that is interesting though is that'll be important to notice the next few weeks what direction urban decides to go with his defensive staff, especially if they lose to michigan state. a lot of rumblings of displeasure with fickell and his staff, which coombs is a part of.

Yes. Kerry Coombs is very well respected in the Cinci market. He built a great program at a public school in an area that was dominated by private, Catholic shools. He was BK's "in" for recruiting the local talent while BK was at UC. Coombs is the key to recruiting Cinci.

Urban is used to a SEC style defense and OSU is far from that right now. Stay tuned I agree.

Random poster on 247 said he talked to a friend who is friends with Mr. Hilliard and apparently he is the Director of The Whitney M. Young Jr. Job Corps . Said if his Dad as any say Justin will go to Notre Dame since Mr. Hilliard "sees on a daily basis the struggles of those without a proper education and he feels that ND's student athlete gets a genuine education."

Just a lot of fluff really. Diaco leaving won't impact him, has a good relationship with Elston. Trying to get back late January/ early Feb. Been to ND so many times so he wants to get out and see other schools to compare.
