Fairly predictable deaths (except for the little girl) but the way they happened was awesome. I think Rick's daughter is probably actually dead.

No idea where this is going. Do you think we will see different groups alone or will everyone meet up somewhere? Who or what will be the next "villain" ? What's going on with Carol?

His daughter is dead. They followed the comic almost to a T tonight. Very well done TWD. Bravo.

Great episode, I thought. They had a great Talking Dead afterwards too. Lauren Cohen got a little choked up talking about Hershel leaving.

As far as Carol, I think she's coming back...and this is how it's going to happen. Tyrese was going to be dead to rights in the prison fight. He's saved by who? Carol's little protege, whom she trained. So, she saves Tyrese's life. When Rick talks to Tyrese finally about booting Carol, Tyrese is pissed...but has second thoughts because it was Carol's "little girl" so to speak that saved his life. So, that should nip that one in the bud.

Next villian, I'm not too sure. I haven't read the comic books yet or anything, I do have a buddy that has them all though. Obviously the first order of business will be securing a new place to live which will bring it's own confrontations and hardships, probably a few more deaths, or maybe none. The group is so experienced with walkers now, they could probably clear out a place like the prison again with little trouble. Downside is they're low on supplies since they left in a rush.

I think Judith, Rick's daughter, is alive. The blood and the reaction was a decoy I think. Then again, I doubt they would show a little baby getting eaten by walkers...watching a girl like Meghan getting eaten is pretty hard to watch as it is.

I thought it was interesting that Kirkman said on Talking Dead that in the comics the Governor got a much less satisfying death. Something about wanting to leave the reader wanting more. I'm glad he went with a 3 person job. It was cool that Rick started it, Michonne dealt the mortal blow, and Lilly finished the job. It went about as well as it could have gone really, lots of closure.

I STILL think that the little girl, Carol's protege, is the one that really burned the bodies and Carol covered for her. I think she was the one that was feeding the rats to the walkers through the fence.

Ugh...I don't know if I like that...no comic spoilers! I'm hoping this is one thing they changed. Kirkman did say that he wanted the Governor's death to be more satisfying than the comic, so he did change that. I hope Judith is still alive too. While she very well could be dead, and she plays kind of a small role on the show...that would suck to have a baby getting eaten as part of a storyline. That's some gruesome stuff.

Hopefully they start sticking to the comic more. My guess is the rest of this season will deal with them finding each other and regrouping. Then heading towards Washington DC where the next storyline in the comic picks up.

David Morrisey played a great villain though.

Yeah I also believe most of this season will be them going it in groups and trying to find each other and getting all back together. Interesting that the comic has them go to DC. Most people there were already bran dead before the infection started.

I've never read the comics and have no desire to so I have no idea what direction the show will move. I will say that is was an awesome show last night. Pretty predictable about Herschel being killed but it was pretty gnarly how it happened. Not sure if Judith is dead or not. If so it was at least a pleasant way to kill her off. Don't think I'd really want to see a baby being eaten. It's going to be a long two months until the show starts up again. Can't wait. This season has not disappointed.

Personally I hope Judith is dead because the whole caring for a baby while running from walkers storyline wouldn't really do it for me.

This season has been really really good and I'm glad I stuck with it. I suspect we are going to see some flashbacks going forward so Herschel and others will be back in some capacity. Governor, too (something felt weird about his explanation of what happened to his brother).

I was really upset with everything about the governor, from how quickly he persuaded this group (with what they have been through you think they would be a little less gullible and a little less likely to injure and kill other humans) to his death. I was going, "Oh, BOY," when he was down. "This could be good! Everyone stop and watch while they let the walkers taking the field tear him apart!" They could have done that very well and made the series.

Also, everyone attacking, when the governor went ape on Rick, could have come to their senses, instead of just that one girl commenting that he cut a mans head off.

My vote, which is worthless, because I am trying to imperfectly interpret foreshadowing, that may or may not be there, is that the older sister of that guy that died is a sociopathic killer! She feigned being afraid of knives, but knew well how to use them. Didn't even blink when she killed that man. Was totally comfortable. Never have I seen that kind of reaction out of a first time shooter, let alone someone who killed a man, let alone out of a child. No that little blonde killed the two, Carol covered for her and took the blame, which is why her confession looked so half-assed, and now we will have an interesting situation when Tyree has to deal with the person that killed his girlfriend is the same one that saved his life!

Let me know how it turns out!

I don't think Judith is dead I think someone picked her up. Even though I'm a big comic nut I have only read volume 1 and 2 but this was the best episode of a season that IMO has been kinda sub par compared to the other 3.

Hershel dying was obvious, but I did not expect him to be beheaded. The episode where he went apeshit on all the zombies in the medical wing was his swan song.

Such a good half season. I wish they didn't split it like that.

Great episode. When the Governor said, "Liar!" the hairs on the back of my neck stood up. Great scene. Knew Herschel was a goner, but was very surprised by the brutality. I like how Kirkman said on Talking Dead that he wanted to brutality of a death to mirror the importance of the character. Very cool, albeit sick and twisted, concept.

I am really looking forward to see what happens to the group. I am sure they meet up with Carol again at some point. I picture the scene of when they find Carol is going to be sort of like when Captain Willard finally finds Colonel Kurtz.

Or possibly like when Roger Podactor found Captain Winkie.

Wait a minute...did anybody stab Herschel in the brain? If not there might be a Herschel walker.

Came to bump this thread and saw the last comment was in reference to this. Well, now I guess we know.

I didn't like the episode that much...but I guess it was sort of necessary-- a child's anger and resentment toward his parent for losing the people and things in his life that he cared about; his angry acknowledgement that his father is, ultimately, just a man; then his return to knowing he still needs and wants his father in his life.

I guess that whole aspect was cool, but I was kind of hoping for more action and excitement-- the characters are at a crossroads and in danger that we've never seen before...but we get an entire episode based on the human element. Like I said, I think a necessary (and realistic) story to tell, but a bit of a letdown with months of anticipation awaiting the new season.

I think they'll get to what we're all anxiously waiting to see next week though-- the aftermath of the prison decimation and life on the road without any type of fort, people strewn about.

I agree. It wasn't a bad episode, but it was possibly not the best one to lead with following the break. It probably would have been better if they started with Beth and Daryl. Put them in a bunch of situations where Beth is getting attacked or something and Daryl is killing walkers left and right, big herds, etc. Michonne going bad ass and slaying 23 walkers was pretty cool though.

These 2014 episodes have been really good. Tonight was crazy. We all knew that girl was crazy, but that might be an understatement.

My wife is a fan of the show, so I see it almost every week. I think it's ok, but for the most part, kind of sucky.

Tonight's ep was some shit, tho.

Yeah, I have been a little disappointed with the episodes since Feb, but I think its for a lack of "action" haha. The storyline is shaping up to be interesting (i havent read the comics) but last nights episode was great.

In the producers/directors defense, it is probably extremely hard to setup storylines for different groups of people in different areas, and I think that is why you are getting full episodes devoted to a specific group. Thats my only negative, is that we didnt see Carol/Tyrese/Girls for 3 weeks, havent seen Rick/Carl/Michonne for 3 weeks now. But still a great show.

I've enjoyed this year more than last year with the interest leading up to Terminus, and whatever that is. This year it has gotten deep inside the characters and I agree, it has got to be really difficult writing-wise to keep up with the way the group is splintered, but I think they've done as well as they could. Only two episodes left!

And yes, if you look at Tyrese's back you see a makeshift papoose carrier where Judith is.

I really like how they are split up. I thought it was really cool that the burned walkers came from the house that Beth and Daryl burned down. There are probably other not-so-obvious connections between the storylines as well.

Yeah, best episode of the season so far for sure. Kind of sucks that they had a number of average or below average episodes before they could get to this. I mean, you could have probably thrown out a few episodes in this second half of the season and it wouldn't have made a huge impact. They could have had Bob/Sasha/Maggie just happen to show up at Terminus without any explanation on how they got there and it wouldn't have changed the show one bit. There were a couple other stories that could have been shortened as well or removed all together, too much fluff. They could have used the extra time to flesh out Abraham and his group a little more. They introduce them for half an episode...then nothing. What a horrible way to bring in new characters. Looks like we'll be getting a little more about them next week though.

I honestly thought Lizzy was the one that took out Karen and the other guy at the prison and Carol was just covering for her, but I guess it makes sense now that Carol did it. Given the fact Carol has evolved into a "Do whatever is necessary" type survivalist it fits that she was the one that did the deed. I thought this was an interesting note on Talking Dead last night: Tyrese may have killed Carol or left all together if she would have confessed about Karen when they had their conversation in the field about Tyrese's nightmares. If Carol didn't have the scene with Lizzy at the end, and Tyrese didn't see that, he may not have understood Carol's motivations and he may have still seen it as a malicious act rather than an action to save the majority.
