Poll question (without the actual poll): What's your order of top 3 all-time ND receivers?

1. Tim Brown
2. Michael Floyd
3. Rocket

Samardzija, and Tate just missed my cut.

If you're talking about ND careers only then IMO it's

1a. Rocket
1b. Brown
Floyd
Tate/Shark

Jim Seymour and Jack Snow would like to be included. They didn't play in the pass happy era, but they made the most of their opportunities.

Samardzija, Brown, Tate, with Floyd and Rocket just missing my cut. Rocket was more of a special teams standout than a great receiver, and while Floyd is the all-time leading receiver, he had some years that he underperformed his potential. The Shark was a dominant receiver. Tim Brown was Tim Brown and Tate was among the most productive players in ND history and was far and away the best WR on the team (which included Floyd) IMHO.

So glad I didn't start him this week in fantasy. Who needs over 30 points.

Luckily I didn't need him though. Very happy he is having a productive year. I always felt Arizona was a good fit for him to play opposite Fitz.

This might be heresy but for my money, it is Timmy by a mile. Guy broke every school record UNDER LOU HOLTZ, meaning that they did not throw the ball anywhere as often as they did under CW and BK.

Then it depends on what you want. I still think Rocket is much more dangerous a PLAYER, but since this is about WRs, I guess Floyd would be #2 on my list, then Rocket.

1. Duval Kamara
2. DJ Hord
3. George West

Actually, I shouldn't joke about Kamara. I thought he was going to be the bees knees when he signed, and I held out hope even after he disappeared in 2008 and 2009.

Kamara was well on his way to becoming the G.O.A.T...then he heard you used the term "bees knees" to describe him, and it all went south.

Well, if anyone ever saw Mayes light up FSU during a bowl game that ND was not even supposed to win without their starting QB....yeah, Mayes was elite WR while at ND.

My all time list does not go back as far as probably should but it would be

#1 Tim Brown, by a MILE

Mayes
Floyd
Shark
Tate

Rocket (for those who think he was just a standout on ST, they need to check the tape against UT in 1990, and MIA, when he WAS the Irish offense that day, with a KO TD to boot)

I never used that term at the time! Don't you put that evil on me!

btw, ND didn't win that game...

Yeah, I know.

Just like they lost the MICH game where Mayes made the go ahead TD catch in the back of the endzone.

Things have had a way of breaking badly in big games for the Irish since the 1994 Cotton Bowl

2013 Stats:

65 receptions
1,041 yards
5 TD

He actually outgained Larry Fitzgerald on 17 less receptions. Pretty impressive.

Cardinals like what they’re seeing from Michael Floyd this spring | ProFootballTalk

Wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald has been a one-man show on offense for much of his career in Arizona, but that changed last season with the emergence of Michael Floyd.

Floyd caught 65 passes for a team-high 1,041 yards and five touchdowns, which represented a big step forward from his rookie season and gave Carson Palmer two strong options in the passing game. Palmer said that Floyd has “jumped out at me” during spring work and that he has “high expectations” for Floyd in 2014. The feeling is a popular one in the organization, with wide receivers coach Darryl Drake saying “the only person that can keep him from being good is him.”

If Floyd continues to progress, defenses may find themselves forced to choose between doubling him and doubling Fitzgerald. If that happens, Floyd says that someone else is going to make defenses pay.

“If they double team anyone, we have the guys on the field that can beat one-on-one coverage,” Floyd said, via the team’s website. “We are not a stingy group of guys. We don’t really care who gets the praise and glory. At the end of the day it’s about the winning. Whoever can beat that one-on-one coverage, it’ll help us out a lot.”

The Cardinals won 10 games last season and finished strong by taking six of their final eight games. If their defense picks up where it left off while the offense improves along with Floyd, life is going to be very interesting in the NFC West again this year.
