I know the Tylers well. Small world. They lived two doors down from me.
Very cool

Great pickup. I'm guessing the Mizzou boards and bashing him right now. Probably saying he's afraid to play in the SEC.
Sucks that Williams mom swayed him
Hopefully it ranks terribly (Talking about their recruiting class). I love beating all these stud filled teams with supposed scrubs.
Followed by:
You are serious I am sure and you think this is going to happen every year when it hasnt before.
We didn't need him anyway(nm)
Still a long way until signing day. We'll either get him back, or get somebody else, better and FIRE PINKIE
I heard we pulled his offer. Something about gay midget porn. No more details than that.
To those comments above, all of them except the "parents swaying" comments are in jest. They actually seemed pretty cool about it.
Williams aint a big loss. He wants to get a degree and do something other than play in the NFL

Yeah, probably, some were amusing though. Here was another that I just saw that was kind of funny
I like the premise that you can't get a degree in the SEC, and that you can't play in the NFL if you go to ND
I just saw another poster mention that Missouri would better prepare him for the NFL if he wanted to go that route. Uhh...maybe if you're talking tough SEC competition, but we still have about twice as many players in the NFL than Missouri last I checked.
I'm sad the Asian celebratory pics have been cleaned up....but welcome home, Jhonathon![]()
OVERALL TRAITS
Size-Strength-Speed
Possesses very good height with solid bulk and a lengthy frame that can support additional good mass with time in a college weight program. Displays average strength and initial quickness for size and average to slightly below average top-end speed for size.
Versus the Run
Flashes the ability to fire out low and be able to hold his ground, but needs to watch pad level as he can quickly rise up. Flashes ability to bring his hands and get off blocks, but needs to improve hand usage and upper body strength to extend and when he gets tall and isn%u2019t active with his hands he can give ground.
Pass Rush Skills
Flashes some upside and can try to take a tight path, but lacks the initial burst and ability to bend to win with a speed rush. Needs to develop the use of his weapons and doesn't display the lateral mobility to set up double moves and quickly redirect.
Toughness/Motor
Has good size, but needs to continue to fill out, improve strength and better learn to maximize his tools. Will trail the play at times and can improve angles in pursuit. A drag down arm tackler.
Bottom Line
Williams flashes some good raw tools and possesses some physical upside, but needs to keep developing as a player and physically to get more from his abilities. Could develop as a blocking TE. We don't see an immediate contributor on defense and we feel will need at least a red-shirt.
insider
This scouting report does not sound very hopeful..
Congrats Jhonathon! Love when we add a great athlete with big upside. Had to work hard to spell first name right...I think i have it down now. Welcome!
Could be a Mario Williams type with some weight room work.
Haha, and they say we are delusional. Didn't Georgia Southern just beat Florida this week-end?
Long DE with 4.5 SPPEEEEEEEEDDDD.
21st century defensive football.
WHOOP! and thank you Jhonathon!!!
I'm a little unclear how all of that works but that only matters if you are signing a class over 25 IIRC. The number to consider here is the 85 total scholarships
EE'ing has nothing to do with how many we can bring it. Our limit is 85 scholarships. Whether or not kids enroll early does not impact that limit at all.
Right now 24 guys combined with 4 projected 5th years get us to 85 with no further attrition. Obviously things are fluid, so it is subject to change.
Anyone realize that he was recruited by the staff as a CAT. Or at least that is what he and all the services say.
I know Ishaq is 6'5", but 6'6" seems REALLY tall for a LB.
Any thoughts?
What I'm saying is just because someone reports that they're being recruited for "CAT" doesn't mean that they're all playing the same position nor that they all project long term for the same roles. We have literally 6 guys -- Bonner, Yeargin, Blankenship, Williams, Hill, Trumbetti -- who have reported being recruited for "CAT" during the process. Obviously, we wouldn't be recruiting 6 people for 1 identical role.
How guys are used within the defense really moves away from strictly defined roles for DL/OLBs. Guys get moved all over the place like puzzle pieces. One play Okwara is in a two point stance playing true OLB off the line of scrimmage, the next he is lined up in a NG spot on a passing down and swatting a Taylor Kelly pass. Guys get plugged in wherever their skills warrant, and depending on the situation their uses can be quite variable.
So while the coaches might simplify where they're being recruited for to "CAT" when talking to them and showing them how they might be used, their intended uses due to their skills are likely different... and as we all know, the staff is apt to move "big skill" guys wherever they best fit after they get them in camp.
We just had this discussion in another thread... quoting my self:
There is little doubt in my mind that when he's done developing he's going to be a hand on the ground type of guy. He has a big frame and should be able to bulk up a ton. He's also a serious project player with a low floor, high ceiling... so maybe we'll never see him at all.
No, 6'6" in and of itself is not too tall for an OLB (see: Trent Murphy for Stanford, etc.)... and it's very possible you see him playing as a true OLB with this speed... but I'd personally bet against it relative to some other prospects. I think Williams and Trumbetti are destined to be much more DE types.
