I agree with GI41 for the most part, he was a guy who stood by his guns and just took his delivery too far... like always.

Standing your ground with your opinion is great when you are sharing information or forming some sort of idea that makes sense. Lax, if I can use as an example, can be negative at times. Some will agree and some won't. However, he supports his views with facts, stats, etc. So, his opinion or view is respected. Very very rarely was anything Pat said ever supported by facts, stats, etc. It was all an emotional rant. Standing your ground when you are doing the latter just seems like throwing a temper tanterum.

You left out a few:

Dirty secret who was also stoic
Reggie Bush and all variations

Dang...forgot about those guys.

I know there are literally thousands over the past few years, but this is informational only for posters people recognize. I know people keep referring to this as some kind of IE wall of shame, but that is not the purpose. It is because so many people ask "was so and so banned? Why? For how long?"

I'll miss Pat a lot. He was the funniest poster IMO (I'm not a mod, so easy for me to say).

I wish there were a feature to 'ban from posting' but not lock out their account (still PM, be able to browse, etc).

Pat's the type of guy I'd meet up with for an Irish game, now that can never happen.

I think a permanent ban is really hefty, because I'm sure with a month off he'd learn he has to post accordingly.

Just my opinion.

He had 9 previous infractions, a previous shorter "cool off" ban, and countless warnings. With that kind of track record, you don't get away with continued blatant trolling nor calling someone a "fucking schizo." We were more than lenient. Again, this was a forgone conclusion agreed upon awhile ago and we were just waiting for the next bout of over the line trolling to pull the trigger.

Why could that never happen? Seriously were you gonna meet up just so you guys can log on you laptops together and post right next to each other? Damn it maybe some of you guys should meet up in real life instead of being emotionally attached internet buddies.

I'm having a hard time understanding your post and point.

Why couldn't it happen? Because I live in Madison WI, and Pat lives (I believe) in Houston. Should I go to Houston and make a sign for Pat the Irish fan? Lol.

No. Where are you getting that idea from? From seeing/interacting with Pat over the past 2 years on here, I can tell he'd be a fun guy to get drinks with before a ND game.

I'm not emotionally attached to anyone on here. What the hell are you talking about? I think it's very likely that going to a ND game/bar with Pat would be a blast. That's it. I'm not asking to be in his damn wedding. And I have plenty of friends in real life, lol.

Lol. Pat did take talking past people and making sneaky non sequiturs to an art form. Sometimes I would read his posts and think, "how are you so good at seeming to stay on topic without actually responding to one thing the other poster said?" I almost admired his trollability.

Maybe he's a lawyer! lol

That's not the message you conveyed to me last night in a PM.

kuehnja is just butthurt because he knows now that Pat's gone, he's next.

What?

If you want to know how to 'block a poster' PM me and I can walk you through it. That way you don't have to trail me through this site and make snide, condescending comments.

It'll save you loads of time.

I feel like Kobe when Raja Bell called him out every time you mention me.

Sorry if I added to the situation but I was trying to lighten things up. I thought the whole thing about Roll pat, with or without a comma was kind of droll, but what do I know. Apparently, the tension in the room was so sharp, people could cut each other with a knife.

And then I saw the fucking schizo comment and I thought two things almost simultaneously; I didn't know you could really say fuckin on this site, and how could anyone call a moderator fuckin schizo, and not expect to be banned.

Both things have since worked themselves out.

(PS. To anyone who really does not know why we do not meet in real life, please listen carefully:

NONE OF US CAN STAND EACH OTHER, AND IF WE WERE IN A ROOM TOGHETHER WE WOULD CUT EACH OTHERS HEARTS OUT!)

Here's to Pat

Problem is, you need to borrow it first, before you pour it out. I am just sayin'.

And finally. I will miss everything about Pat but his politics.

There needs to be a separate "Bait Kuehnja" thread for the posters who keep trying to get him to go over the edge lol

Lol. I'm just saying, he spends a lot of time following me around this site and trying to insult me, but it's never of substance so there's never reason to respond. I don't really get it, but I feel you Kobe.

It's getting a bit ridiculous lol!

Seriously, just hit the ignore button. There's no point in antogonizing a poster with "I can't wait till you get banned so I don't have to see your posts anymore."

You have the option to not see his posts right now lol.

Can someone tell me what "Trolling" means. I am not being sarcastic i am just out of the loop when it comes to computer terms.
1. trolling
Being a prick on the internet because you can. Typically unleashing one or more cynical or sarcastic remarks on an innocent by-stander, because it's the internet and, hey, you can.

2. Trolling
The art of deliberately, cleverly, and secretly pissing people off, usually via the internet, using dialogue. Trolling does not mean just making rude remarks: Shouting swear words at someone doesn't count as trolling; it's just flaming, and isn't funny. Spam isn't trolling either; it pisses people off, but it's lame.

The most essential part of trolling is convincing your victim that either a) truly believe in what you are saying, no matter how outrageous, or b) give your victim malicious instructions, under the guise of help.
Trolling requires decieving; any trolling that doesn't involve decieving someone isn't trolling at all; it's just stupid. As such, your victim must not know that you are trolling; if he does, you are an unsuccesful troll.

3. Trolling
Trolling is trying to get a rise out of someone. Forcing them to respond to you, either through wise-crackery, posting incorrect information, asking blatantly stupid questions, or other foolishness. However, trolling statements are never true or are ever meant to be construed as such. Nearly all trolled statements are meant to be funny to some people, so it does have some social/entertainment value.

"Trolling" isn't simply "harmful statements". Intentionally insulting/libelous statements are "flaming".

Just as bad as trolling is "Feeding the Trolls". This is when people say stuff that they know will prompt someone to respond with a trolled reply and/or replying to comments that are blatantly from a troll. This is especially true when a troll first makes his comment/reply, and (usually many) people respond, either trying to correct the troll, or express anger at the statement. At that point, the trolling was successful and has been fed. When encouraged by success and feeding, trolls often return.

4. trolling
Trolling is the act of purposefully antagonizing other people on the internet, generally on message boards. When done in a moderated internet community, this can result in banning. When done to uptight people such as fundies, this can result in hilarity.
Apparently I can't post links here, so I can't give a good example of trolling. Sorry.

5. trolling
Hunting for trolls.

Trollers hang around under bridges with troll guns at night (since trolls turn to stone in daylight), in the hope of bagging a troll head as a trophy.

As a VERY endangered (i.e. nonexistent) species, trolls are protected by law, and trolling is therefore illegal.
The police arrested two hobbits yesterday on charges of trolling.
