Better than Jimmy, cause the wheels. He goes, and goes...and goes more on his feet.

Jimmy was an amazing high school passer and in the Weiss system, a pro-style pocket passer was the prototype we looked for. Say what you will about Jimmy, he fit the Weiss system to a tee.

Barnett certainly has the look of a prototypical Kelly qb. He is Golson but taller and perhaps a more natural fit in a spread offense. Remember I said I was a bit more impressed by Clausen as a recruit...but Barnett is so young and could develop into an amazing qb. He is #1 on my list for '15 and locking him up early should pull other big-time recruits our way.

btw Did you see one of the tweets posted earlier where he lit a candle for a buddy while he was visiting this weekend, that makes me confident that he is all in.

No I didn't. If so my prayers to him or anyone who needs it. Thats pretty cool.

I get what your saying about Jimmy. He was that good, better than anyone in his class. Not better than Barnett imo. We'll see.

You would be hard pressed to find a QB better than Jimmy coming out. Barnett fits the system as does Golson, Zaire, and Kizer. So other than the fact Zaire is left handed there isnt going to be a period of adjustment if someone gets hurt/transfers/etc. With Rees and Hendrix they arent spread QBs.....yes I know Hendrix is mobile. And to a point Gunner is more of a prostyle Qb. Gunner I think will run Cincys offense good and probably could have ran NDs efficient but hed fit a Brady Hoke system perfectly.

Barnett will def be a top 100 kid and depending on if he goes the camp/elite11 circuit will depend on if he is a 4 or 5 star. But like others said earlier...his committment will pay off down the line with the class. All you have to do is turn on his film if you are a recruit and it speaks for itself. Blake and his family got that prior to making it public and they get Notre Dame. He will be a perfect ambassador and recruiter for ND going down the line and thats before he gets to school. Its a win win for ND and the Barnett family today.

You are right. I don't know if better is the word I'm looking for. More dynamic is better. I'm glad we're comparing this kid to Clausen. He was good.

As I've said I think Blake will be better, wheels alone. It's saying a lot to admit one is better than Jimmy. Tony Rice is better then Jimmy Clausen.

Not saying this in a bad way, but Barnett looks like Hendrix in his HS days. Strong arm (not as strong as Hendrix), making plays with his legs (faster than Hendrix maybe) and similar size, but the same type of player. I thought that Hendrix would be a beast and then he did not made any progress through his career. If you do not believe me, please look the highlights of both. Did not see anything special of Barnett in terms of passing but looks so dominant, fast, strong and has very natural strides while he is running. Some Mariota on his highlights, if he could become in something similar.. that would be epic. Good catch, congrats to the Staff and welcome aboard Blake, congratulations.

Not sure how much this has been talked about, but Blake has also already stated he is going to EE to ND. He will be in early getting ready to try and compete in '16.

This is important and good to know...Thanks Ironman!

I even like the weather out here, to be honest, I’m kind of tired of the 85 degree weather back home, I'm ready for a change.

Yeah you read that right

Some people have told me South Bend isn't the most social place but that's fine with me. I'm looking at college football as a job, not a place to go and party all the time.

He is way more mature than a normal 17 year old kid. I am very impressed

He doesn't remind me of Hendrix at all. Very different in style, imo.

Hendrix played in a heavy run offense in HS. The knock on him was he was a project at the position coming out of HS. Barnett is a much more advanced QB, and faster than Hendrix already. He's also playing better competition in Cali than Hendrix did in Ohio. Barnett's HS is over 4k kids so they play big school Cali football.

I don't see a comparison to Hendrix, at all. Completely different prospects. Only way they are remotely similar is that both had strong arms and could run, to varying degrees. That's it.

Not to mention, Hendrix has had almost zero chance to develop- basically zero reps in his career. His frosh year they all went to Crist (new starter) and then Tommy (backup, and then emergency starter). 2011, he got only a few, in limited packages, behind Dayne and Tommy, and last year everything went to Everett and Tommy for obvious reasons. This year I'm sure he's had a few more, but only as the backup, and few or none with the ones. Had any of those situations (injuries, etc) shaken out differently, there might've been an opportunity for him to get more reps, and who knows what kind of player he'd be. Being compared to Hendrix coming out says nothing but sky-high potential, IMO.

Hendrix was a heck of a prospect (he was close to flip to Florida and had a spectacular offer list), simply he has not developed. I just only say that he looks like the type a player who is not a refined passer and he needs a lot of development. Rosen now has a more ready game but Barnett may have more potential. Has all the tools, but potential needs to be exploited and developed, if not.. he could be another Blake Bell type of player. He can not be compared with Clausen because they are very opposite as a players, projects and even hype.

difference is Hendrix won't play ahead of anyone.

Barnett is too good to sit.
