Somebody compared Yeargin to Mario Williams and Jarvis Jones. Nothing like a little boose in the morning.

Lax I agree 120% with you.

Yo, they all suck until they commit. Then they are arguably the top recruit in the country. If they decommit its because they have character or grade issue. And there is always better.

II, that's exactly right, unfortunately.

Not true. Just comparing his physical abilities to Jarvis Jones. Both run around a 4.9 40 yard dash, about same height, Jones is bigger though. No where did I compare them as players.

Btw its booze. A boose is a stall for a cow or a horse.

I'm guessing that there is a lot we disagree about. So i'll just let you have your opinion. But i'm not into comparing hypothetical future performance to the best in the NFL. Makes people sound foolish, imo.

Through highlight tapes, the only thing you can compare is their athletic prowess. I disagree that you can't compare them to guys in college or the NFL.

Exactly. Recruiting is a series of battles and we want to win as many of those battles as we can.

True. In the aggregate. But for the same reason it's also kind of silly to get worked about any individual recruit.
Like you said, recruiting is a series of battles and with three months left in the cycle we've still got time to win others. The choice here isn't Yeargin or no one. It's Yeargin or some other almost-as-talented CAT type. Except for the truly elite guys, the marginal difference between any two recruits on our board just isn't that big. It's hard to imagine we win fewer games in 2016 because we land Kolin Hill instead of Richard Yeargin.
I hope he comes (and we get them both). But if he chooses Clemson, it'll be OK.

Ya so were Ronald Darby, Deontay Greenberry, Danny Mattingly ect

Greenberry couldn't get in academically and Mattingly was dropped, but I know what you mean. It is like Anzalone the most, agree with Sox.

If Yeargin wants Clemson, that's fine. I'd love to have him in this class, but if he doesn't want in, I will take Hill, Sykes, etc and be more than happy.

Speaking of anzalone how'd that game go against Georgia southern..

Yeah, no way Muschamp lasts past this year now. 8 losses (7 now but an almost guaranteed loss to Florida State coming up next week) are going to look really bad for him.

Hope Yeargin stays but there are others that would hurt more to lose.

Exactly. Bro I want Yeargin but even before he commited they always said University players were overrated and never panned out. I want Yeargin in a ND uni.

I have been been drinking heavily. (Go JARRON, BTW!!!)… but I don't remember either of those situations being the case. I remember us waiting for Greenberry's LOI and instead seeing it go to Houston, and Mattingly dropping us like a bad habit. Am I missing something (other than my sobriety)?

Mattingly was a mutual departure. He realized he didnt want to play linebacker, and we didnt need him if he was playing tight end. We knew that would happen.

Greenberry straight up dropped us for Houston. There may have been academic problems, but I did not know about those and the staff was expecting his letter.

He gone? If he really runs a 5.0 40 he might not make it to the door/fax machine fast enough on signing day. In that case he'd be all Irish!

Mattingly was a mutual separation. No idea on Greenberry, although I'm pretty sure our coaches were expecting the LOI.

PM me if you want, but I am confident in my statement. Not going to debate it.

Sober up Wooly, You're right about Greenberry, but the Mattingly situation was more of a we really don't want you if you don't want to play LB and he was leaning towards TE.

Maybe it was academic, but Kelly sure seemed pretty bent about Greenberry on signing day that year. Closest I can recall him ever coming to calling out a decommit publicly.

Absolutely. He was pissed, and they were expecting an LOI. But from what I heard there was a disconnect between him, Tee and ND over what they had to do to be fully qualified student-athletes at ND, and that led to the break for all the parties. I don't think many people loved ND as a prospect more than Tee, and he is super talented, yet he still hasn't played D-1 football yet. It's for a reason.

Only the parties at hand know 100% though. Plus, out of all the 'losses' we have had, I think he would hurt the least. I love our WR core now and going forward in terms of depth and talent.

So it looks like Richard the III is back in the fold. I would like to ask three questions :

Is it possible that his forty time is a combination of all the negatives about using the forty, old time, kid doesn't know how to run it, growth spurts affect that, no emphasis on it, etc? (Because he looks pretty quick in his film)

What do you all get by treating each other with such loathing?

Do you think that Jhonny Williams has anything to do with the winter of Richards discontent?

He's 16 and is looking like he's going to develop into a FREAK. My comparison to Mario Williams was that Mario was rangy and had the size and frame. Mario was 6'6 250 coming outta HS...Yergin is 6'4 225...It's very possible for a 16 yr old to grow another 2 inches and put on 20lbs and learn how to run a better 40

Is he going to be EXACTLY like Mario? Hell no. I didn't say that. But big, long, and can rush the passer??? With some coaching and weight room work, I'd say he's a keeper.

And with all the dumbass comparison's around here about ND guys, this is the TAMEST. If I had a nickel....

Haven't seen anything post visit but news of the visit definitely didn't sit well with ND. Alford was pissed when he heard because it never came up before. Loy thinks that as of now he will stick... we shall see.

I could see that. Certainly was the case with Tee. (and has made me nervous about other kids from that high school ever since). And I agree we've done OK without Greenberry but damn I'd love to see him and Daniels line up on the outside next year.

We know Yeargin is "back in the fold?"

Just stop. You're completely embarrassing yourself.

"The two players are nothing alike, but IF he grows substantially AND adds a bunch of weight AND then somehow with more size makes an inhuman improvement in speed and athleticism, then they're so similar!"
