Visited OSU this weekend

Stanford and Ohio State have shown, and are receiving the most interest. I am surprised that Notre Dame has not been more aggressive in his recruitment. This kid has success, on the field and in the classroom, written all over him. Hayes, Trumbetti, Blankenship, Dickerson, and Bonner makes for a crowded class at defensive line, but Solomon would see the field before any of them.

Was Stanford and Texas battle but OSU has joined the mix. He really loves Stanford but if Texas fires Mack and hires a big name I wouldn't be surprised to see him stay home.

According to Mind of Mike, we are on the outside looking in. With his second unofficial to OSU it seems they have pulled up with Texas and Stanford here.

Wiltfong said this week at some point that he thinks we still get a visit but we are on the outside as of now. He also said that this one will probably go the distance so no need to throw in the towel now. However, I agree that some positive developments would be nice.

I guess I'm surprised that OSU is coming on so strong. Early on in his recruitment the scuttlebutt was that he was either going to a high-academics school or staying local. Not sure what his intended major is ... maybe there's an academic program he really likes at OSU or something.

I have seen Solomon say several times that he wants to go to school where the guys on the team take pride in doing school work and don't just give their work to the cheerleaders to do. If that is true I can't imagine he ends up at OSU.

Yeah that's the opposite of OSU.

Right, I mean Cardale Jones has made OSU famous for having players who didn't "come to play school."

Y! SPORTS

OSU hooked Anzalone (briefly) by telling him he could get an MBA and a BBA in 4 years, didn't they? (I might be thinking of PSU, or maybe both schools did it.) Maybe OSU is doing something similar with Thomas.

pOSU was trying to sway him with the MBA in 4 years thing. PSU was trying to sway him with a promise to accept him into their MBA/BS program that he has said only about 12 kids a year get accepted into.

Tunnel Vision today was optimistic about our chances of making up ground with Thomas. His father confirmed to TV that ND remains a player. After his last visit Solomon recognized that we have everything he wants in a school and he has everything we want in a student-athlete. He hasn't been focusing too much on recruiting during his season, but we'll have plenty of time to make a push for him once his season ends.

Please God yes.

He would be great in our 3-4 system and letting the linebackers go free.

Solomon Thomas -- Notre Dame DE Stephon Tuitt: The Fighting Irish defender is taller with the frame to carry more bulk, but outside of the size difference there are some similarities there. Thomas is still a good-sized prospect in his own right, with a little better first-step quickness. Both are capable of being tough run defenders, with the size and upper-body strength to set the edge. Neither are speed rushers off the edge with great ability to bend, but both can translate speed to power and create pressure. Thomas, like Tuitt, could also slide inside and be a disruptive interior rusher. You would not label either as dynamic, but both are good, tough football players with some d-line versatility. Like Tuitt, Thomas’ best fit could come as a 5 technique for a base 3-4, or he could potentially stay at defensive end in a base 4-3 as well as potentially develop into a defensive tackle.

Per 247 update from Ryan Bartow. Stanford, Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, Baylor, Notre Dame, Alabama and Ohio State are his final 8 with Baylor trailing behind the other 7. Will take 4 official visits. Stanford and Arkansas for sure. The other two are still being worked out. Wants to go to a place he is comfortable at, both on and off the field. The right scheme and academic fit. Said that he thinks his best fit is at the 5 technique in a 3-4. Had great things to say about all the schools and once again said that he doesn't have any leaders.

5k in Coppell

5k in Coppell

The Jacob Logan Run for 21 will take place on December 21st in Coppell, Texas. Cam, and his brother Gavin, will be there, along with a much sought after defensive line recruit. If I were the Notre Dame defensive/ recruiting coordinator, I would be participating in this event. And bringing along the head ball coach might not be a bad idea.

I think Alford and Diaco have better things to do than run 5k in Texas just days before the bowl game.

Seriously? You want Diaco and Kelly to go down and run a 5K for a recruit?

If I were a recruit I'd probably be more impressed with a coach coming to run three miles with me than I would be by getting 270 letters in the mail. But isn't that the quiet period anyway?
