It's your avatar. I read all of your posts in Charlie's voice.

Same here and it makes this place so much more amusing. When he's passionately mad about something and I don't agree with his point, I get to imagine it as one of Charlie's rants.

This kind of sh*t bugs me, and I'm not talking about Cierre.

I'm talking about fans pontificating about character flaws and passing judgement like it's righteousness.

what are we supposed to do? Say that's "unfortunate" and move on? The guy had to follow some simple rules and work hard and he was set. It's sickening to me and I feel sorry for those who he had to support.

The term "deadbeat" comes to mind.

I'll never understand how some of the best athletes in the world don't value the ****ing golden opportunity they've been given and squander such talent. I hope Cierre gets his shits together, not for his sake, but for his child.

Totally agree. Wood, and so many other like him, are given the world, football wise, on a golden platter and they shits all over it.

I have a friend who used to know Marquise Lee up to his sophomore year at USC, and said Lee smokes weed daily. IDK if it's still the case, but it's crazy.

I've always thought it was widely understood that lots of football players smoke pot. I recall an ESPN piece awhile back detailing rampant pot use in the Oregon program and an anonymous survey of D-1 players found that like 40 percent did in the offseason.
Obviously that's different than a rookie scout team player with a history of pot-related discipline issues smoking up the night before a game in the team hotel. But pot-smoking itself does not seem to be a career-ending offense in major football.

No, I agree. And I think that 40% is probably low to be honest. I wonder what they counted as 'smoking pot in off-season'. If you did it once do you contribute to the 40%, or do 40% do it 'daily/weekly,etc'.

I only bring it up because Lee apparently did it daily. I understand that tons of D1 athletes do it occasionally, but daily is crazy to me.

OK. This is what I get for pulling 18-month-old stats out of my ***. It was an NCAA survey (anonymous, I'd assume) in which 27 percent of football players said they'd smoked pot in the last 12 months.
NCF - TCU's marijuana problem is just one of many among elite college programs - ESPN The Magazine - ESPN

That 27% is probably low. Doesn't change the stupidity of what Wood did. You can't wave it in your team's face like that.

Wasted opportunity for those young men. Hopefully they learn and get a 2nd chance. But they need to learn from it.

Thats what bugs me the most. It isn't the mistake in itself. It wasn't the first issue of this kind for him. And he didn't learn from the first time. This time it was in the big stage, and it cost him his job.

I don't care about "smoking pot". That is not even the issue.

The issue is that your employer, who is willing to pay you MILLIONS of dollars, told you that you cannot smoke pot.

It's mind boggling how stupid these guys are.

Smoke all the pot you want in retirement at 35.

Millions of dollars > Pot

anything would be a chance to ...yet again...clear the air (pun intended) and establish a clean track record for the next contract...but you gotta flat drop the lettuce now...some guys can manage themselves around booze and lettuce...C has shown he can't...and no GM is going to give him a shot w/o some serious clauses and testing...

good luck C...

Should get a decent opportunity to get some PT with the Pats. They don't have a bunch of offensive weapons this year.

Even with Vereen coming back, I think Wood is a better option than Brandon Bolden and possibly Blount at RB. After being out for 10 weeks, Vereen might be slow coming back. He SHOULD get a chance.

He was assigned to the practice squad.

Pats already have Blount, Bolden, Ridley and Washington. And Vereen comes back after their bye this week.

I don't think he gets any playing time..

Yeah, I don't see him getting any PT this year.

Ridley is the all around back.
Vereen/Bolden are the 3rd down/no-huddle backs.
Blount is the closer.
