They were in a pretty good spot with Enoch Smith at one point also... still pleanty of time to get back in there if needs be.
Was just thinking about Enoch this morning.

If the staff knew Eddie wanted out, would they have pushed for smith harder?

Was thinking the same. I have no idea but I assumed that we were being picky with interior linemen because we had EV on board. Don't know if that would have been the case otherwise.

If anyone has any inside info on this please share.

No info but its pretty obvious that with the loss of EV it will change our recruiting approach.

We were always going to recruit a NG in this class so IMO this doesn't change our approach with Curtis. May become more important, I guess. I would assume that with Eddie out, we'll take another DE/DT. So Holley is a great possibility. Wouldn't be surprised if we start to hear McDowell's name come up some more. I am really hoping that we take another look at Craig Evans. Saw some camp fill on him and for his size he is very lite on his feet.

Definitely. If things do fall apart with Eddie V as expected, I expect a major push for Holley. McDowell too, but it sounds like he's cooled on us so I'm not optimistic about him.

With Smith, the staff from gathering all the info has known about EV for a couple months now and would of went after him more than they did. Personally I did not want him regardless.

From my knowledge the staff tells the recruits how many they are recruiting at each ind. position. When that changes they will go to recruit X and say we have a spot that has opened and want you to fill that spot. In this situation they aren't going to go out on the recruiting trail and tell prospects what is going on with Eddie V when they don't even know themselves. So the assumption that they would have changed their recruiting prior to this coming out is way off. Once this comes to a conclusion then you'll see them make the necessary changes.

Totally agree with you about spreading the word of EV to recruits. That being said they don't have to say why they would be recruiting him more all the sudden.

In most cases, yes they do. For example, they have specifically told Hayes and Trumbetti how many Dlineman they are taking this year and at what positions. If the staff were to start recruiting other players at their positions that would raise some eyebrows and I expect would need some answers. What do you then tell Hayes and Trumbetti? "Don't worry about it", probably doesn't go over so well. I'm not saying that we won't go after others once this is over just that I am glad the staff is waiting. Still a lot of time to get after quality Dlineman.

I get your point, now back to Curtis. What are the odds he wants to play NG over oline?

Plenty of time yes...but you want to be having some ongoing contact with them just to continue building the relationship. I think our boys know whats going on and if we are recruiting at their position after being told its done, well I hope they are smart enough to see the reality. Another person has to take the place of the one that was lost.

I think this is a valid question. It seems like the people who are generally capable of doing so are always listed as OG by the services. I think part of the problem is that even though Nix gets plenty of attention, the Nose is not a glorious spot. Its the position that gets the LB his time to shine. Ray Lewis made a big stink about needing a Nose a few years back so that he could play up to his ability. This kid seems like he might have a mind to do it, but I think he ends up at OG for somebody personally.

Is he not aware of the low amount of playing time. I heard UCLA is going to get some kid there this year but wont play till 2014...

As dirty as they come. Is there any other way to explain "Cal Gang 2012"-- the legendary recruiting class that Tosh had assembled under a struggling Tedford before bolting for UW? It was the precursor to Ole Miss' 2013 class.

It's never good to assume...

Best part of Shaw's rant about faking injuries is how he not so subtly called out Washington asst Tosh Lupoi. Bad blood brewing in Pac-12.

If you have a plausible alternative explanation for how he convinced a long list of 5:s: recruits to verbally commit to play for Jeff Tedford two years ago, I'll happily give him the benefit of the doubt.
