That's a good point. In most cases, a high four star turns out better than a low 3-star and I was wrong to say there isn't any difference. I probably should have said there isn't any (or much) difference between the #254 player in the country (the last 4-star according to 247 composite) and the #354 player (Drue according to 247 composite). At some point, and I don't know exactly where that point is, there's very little difference between a 4-star and 3-star.
and a 4
outside of the top 100-150 is basically negligible. All of those types of players have both flaws and strengths and that last couple points of rating is really splitting hairs. And oversign, have a farm team at a JUCO full of stupid studs ready to play for one season before they flunk out, and of course a stable of cash crazy boosters to keep the enterprise afloat. This is pretty well phrased. The difference between a high 3and a 4

I've always thought of it like a curve that goes from steep towards flat the further you go out. The difference between a Jaylon Smith and the next guy, and that next guy and the guy after him, etc. is pretty big... that is the difference between your #1 OLB and #11 OLB is pretty large. The difference between the #20 OLB and #30 OLB is basically negligible. I think this is why the staff gambles on so many high talent guys versus just filling a roster with projects like Stanford and trying to develop them. I'm not sure what is the better approach, but I can say definitively that the risks associated with recruiting those premier guys are pretty big and can leave you with gaping holes on your team if you don't fill with JUCOs to compensate.
Ahhhh, the fighting Knights!!!!! Did you play ball for them, and when did you graduate????
yeah i played and graduatedin 06

i just feel like if he was gonna be ours he'd be committed by now.
no info. but my money's on him staying with purdue
If he ends up at Purdue, fine. If he goes to ND, even better. I, even as a former Purdue student, and ND fan, have a hard time thinking there should be much of a recruiting battle between these schools. (yeah, I know, ND can barely beat them lately)
Between this and Lazzard, things are just getting depressing as they play out more and more... could you image going from a title game and last year's class to losing out to Iowa State and Purdue for quality players???
lol... fun times.
Talked to him today. Great kid and very hard worker. Real conflict going on inside as he really likes both staffs and both schools. I think he understands he made big strides late in the game and thus is getting more attention. Just another AWP kid making it happen. I wish him luck wherever he ends up. Very high character young man.
Looks like Drue will be visiting Purdue this weekend, and Notre Dame the weekend after for the USC game. Presumably a final decision will come after those two visits.
Could be a rough day for Purdue tomorrow.
I wouldn't mind that at all.
I like us being last. The campus will have a great atmosphere and if we can get a big win over USC that may do it for us.
