I thought at one point there was an open movement on IE to try and get away from sarcasm font. I was mistaken. Should've used italics. I thought "after their last recruiting class" was a dead giveaway.

This man gets it! We have a kindred spirit, Veer and BGIF!

The big news is a commitment for ND. Lazard's tweet has nothing to do with it

That's the "big news" Loy has for us?

no, if you click the link on 247's forum it says something about the 16th commitment of the class. he's either writing up a story or is waiting until the kid goes public with it. Wiltfong congratulated him on the scoop in the same thread.

Perhaps he's "reaffirming" his commitment to Iowa state and shutting down the process.

That'd be good news

What did Jake from State Farm say and more importantly, what was he wearing?

My name is Jake, and wear Khakis to work everyday...hate this commercial. Hear it all the time.

I know. I'm a salesman and now a few stores employees call me Jake from State Farm. I don't work for State Farm, nor Am I an insurance salesman.

People are named Jake? That seems like a name for a dog. Jacob, however, now that is a name.

Any info leak from Allen yet?

Big 12 Recruiting Roundup: Iowa State situation worth watching

With Iowa State falling to Northern Iowa, a lot of eyes will be on the team and head coach Paul Rhoads through the rest of the season. Rhoads is in his fifth season in Ames and has a career record there of 24-28. If he is on the hot seat, you could see some of the Cyclone commits start to look around.

The biggest prize of the class is Urbandale, Iowa, Top100 wide receiver Allen Lazard. He is a firm pledge to Iowa State as his brother Anthony Lazard is a redshirt freshman linebacker for the Cyclones and his father Kevin Lazard is a former player. However, if Rhoads does not end up surviving the season, other programs would have a shot at the nation’s No. 73 overall prospect.

Makes me shake my head a bit. I understand some players wanting to carve their own path, but the path they're choosing certainly isn't an easy one. Not that we were leading, or are leading, guys like Lazard and Elam that are pointing towards Iowa State and Kentucky for the time being...but you have to consider that neither of those team will likely be playing for their respective Conference Championship in their playing careers. Neither will get a shot at a BCS bowl, and certainly not a possible chance at an appearance in the NCG like ND. Not to mention you can get a great education (Yeah, you can get that anywhere if you decide to apply yourself). I understand they're picking the hometown favorites a bit. I've got roots in Ashland University where I grew up, but if Stanford came calling I would probably bolt town.

Sometimes, the smaller schools fit certain players better than the larger schools.

Every recruit when they sign they usually say "I felt most at home"

Sometimes, their decision is as simple as that; because they feel most at home at a certain school

I believe his dad and some other family played for Iowa State as well.
