I would have liked to see him get 10 or 12 carries to make a fuller assessment, but I thought he ran with confidence and he looked really good. had a nice catch too. Look forward to big things from Folston.

He looked good but so did Bryant. Bryant had a great 8 yd inside run where he read blocks and move in the whole very well. Amir looked the best of the bunch, IMO. I think he starts a majority of games going forward.

Tf is often overlooked with Greg coming out of the same area as TF, but don't sleep on him. Loved his touches today.

Amir is our man now, but folston looks like Golden Tate and riddick combined.

I really, really like Amir and his speed, but I don't think he's capable of doing everything our #1 back needs to do. I didn't get to see his blocking today, so I can't comment on it. He's explosive though, loved when he was in. Definitely our #2 guy at the least. I think I like Cam as our #1.

Greg does not look like a freshman. The dude is stacked! Neither does Folston. These young guys bring a bright future to the program.

I don't mind Kelly Platooning the RB's as long as he doesn't repeatedly go to the same play when a particular back is in there. Last year, it was very easy to predict what the play was going to look like when Cierre came in. Need to make sure we mix it up a bit.

cam is not #1. he runs hard and breaks some arm tackles but he was also in just to pound the rock and not fumble later in game after we changed gameplan. he is a great component of our rb stable but def. not a #1 guy.

none of the guys were helped by the conservative play calling later in the game, it was practically the same pistol run up the gut play each time i was screaming at the tv for them to call up a counter play for Folston

Im all for amir, cam, GB, and Tarean getting all the carries. Im kinda sick of seeing GA3 trying to play RB. Its reminding me of the Bears relentless effort to try and force devin hester to be a # 1 reciever. He just doesnt have it. He doesnt look or run like and RB

What other option is there for the young man?

I agree with you to an extent, but I think he's doing the best he can.

Better yet, how should the coaches be channelling the talent that is there?

I wish i had a better answer than, he should have been a reciever the whole time because i realize he doesnt have the ball skills to do so. Most positions in football demand more than straight line speed, he has nothing more than that. If u pair him and amir in 100 meter race ga3 wins, but u cant tell me that amir didnt look 10xs more explosive yesterday. hes too stiff has zero wiggle. two extremley important thing for an RB. Since this is Folstons thread, he, cam, and GB are not as fast but they know how to run like a running back should. Thats why behind amir and cam, Tarean and GB should get the carries and that may be the case as the season continues.

Uhh...dude played a couple of minutes of garbage time and now he looks like one of ND's most talented players ever combined with a very productive and diverse RB. If there were ever a "pump the brakes" comment, this is it. I agree he's going to be good but he's got a long way to go to be at GT's level or even Riddick's level.

He was actually in the game taking reps from Quarter 1, as early as the 3rd series. I agree he's not #1 right now, but he does a lot of good things for us. He can run between the tackles, he's hard to bring down, he can block well. The only thing I'm unsure of is his receiving threat, we don't typically run any routes with him it seems. He ran between the tackles better than GAIII did yesterday. I was a GA III fan before the game, but now I'm not so sure he's going to work as our #1 guy. I'm thinking it should be Cam and Amir taking most of the reps.

Cam is our most complete back currently. It's just that he isn't as fast as GAIII, as quick as Amir, or at talented as GB/TF. However, he is more consistent than GAIII, more tough/durable between the tackles than Amir, and more experienced than GB/TF.

As GB and TF gather more experience and master the offense their other attributes will carry them past Cam. Amir will always play and be explosive, but is probably not a 20-25 carry back. GA is fantastic on the perimeter and will always have a place in our offense, but just not as an every down back.

Ideally, one of Bryant or Folston will pick up the offense quickly and begin to carry the load with 15 carries a game, plus or minus 5. Amir should touch the ball 5-10 times a game. Atkinson should get a similar number of touches.

Kind of random addendum... I'd like to see Amir line up as RB with GAIII in the slot. GAIII could come across in motion. Rees would then have the option to hand to GAIII on the jet sweep or hand to Amir up the middle. I think this would play to their strengths. Pure speed is best on the periphery and quickness is most important between the tackles. (I know, it's pretty obvious I watched the Clemson UGA game last night)

Reminds me of the BYU game in 2nd half.

I know it's probably just the number, but when he bounced that run to the outside he looked a bit like Jonas to me.
Similar build/burst.

I loved that gear Jonas had just after he turned the corner...kid had some jets for his size...

Jonas had the wheels, the size, and ran with authority, however his vision was average (which is why Cierre did the goal line work), went down easier than you might expect, and didn't have that much "wiggle".

I can certainly see the comparisons, but he looks at least as much like senior year Riddick. Make you miss one on one, hits "bigger" than he looks, etc.

BTW, his little brother (James) is a prospect for 2014 class. Picked up two offers this week from Pitt and Minnesotta. OLB/ILB/Safety prospect.
