Dunno about that. The opponent would likely be Bama or Georgia. Pretty rough start to the season.

Do it. Play Georgia. Beat them in their house on national TV in prime time. Then invite them to South Bend next year.

would love to play Georgia....got nothing to lose...if we happened to lose we'd have to time to climb back up the polls since it would be so early in the season

Fine with me as long as they come up and play us in Indy or Chicago the next year.

Atlanta is a pretty easy city to get to, there is a guarantee of a great opponent, and it's more exposure into a big recruiting area. Nothing wrong with it.

Can't really see any SEC team committing to playing in Atlanta and then returning the favor by playing in South Bend, Ann Arbor, etc. Bottom line is recruiting. ND and UM would have huge benfits playing a game in Atlanta... Bama, Ga, LSU, no real reason to want to play in either SB or AA. No recruiting advantage whatsoever.

I could see a ND vs Bama or a UM vs LSU type game at Cowboy Stadium. Just can't see it in Atlanta.

I would disagree with that. ND has had home and home series with LSU and Tennessee in the past. Saban has talked about home and home with ND. When national powers hook up recruiting isn't a factor. Recruits want to play in big games, big venues which ND provides. I remember Fullmer talking about what a great experience it was for him and his players to play at ND. It was absolutely a selling point for him.

Doesn't have to be them. Tennessee and Auburn have played in the game before. Ole Miss would be a possibility as they have a lot of alumni in Atlanta. South Carolina is another possibility.

I would agree that a home and home would be more of a possibility than ATL. As a football fan, I would love it whether it be ND, UM, tOSU, Oregon, Bama, LSU, Oklahoma or whoever. It sure makes for a more exciting season no doubt. This year we are seeing more OOC games early on that will have implications on the NC. Let's hope the trend continues... no matter the teams.

I agree with the home and home part. I don't think playing the game in Atlanta to start the season would require any kind of a return game. That's not the purpose of playing in that game.

Lets play usc to start the year at a neutral site, then we can free up another west coast trip in the middle/end of the season.

So would we have the shamrock series plus another neutral site game in Atlanta? I know these games may help with recruiting but I'd rather see another game in SB added to the schedule.

This would almost certainly be a ND vs. ACC game where the ACC team moves their home game to the Georgia Dome. Va Tech, NC State, UNC, Clemson and Ga Tech would all be likely candidates. There's really no downside for ND.

CBS? Worst coverage possible.

If you're talking about quality I don't know. But if you're talking about exposure, CBS is really good in the South. CFB fans in the South put CBS on at 12 PM every Saturday and watch SEC ball all day. Besides, ND vs. the SEC would bring in the ratings on HGTV.
