Since NDinL.A. knows everything along with Bogs, maybe we should unban them so they can tell us what is happening on campus that is spooking kids.

Didn't NDinLA recently move from California to South Bend? And since, EV and Hood have been spooked?

He's probably hiding in the bushes scaring everyone. Or maybe he's as big of a dick in real life as he is on here?
It's the only thing that makes sense.

JK - all in good fun!

So since this made from page news on ESPN.com I decided to read through the comments which is always a bad idea. I came across this nugget.

Melica Patterson Hood
I am his mother their not kid on the way.

That's really his mom. I don't believe anything that comes out of these kids or their parents' mouths though. Who knows.

I was a little skeptical at first, since it was in the ESPN comments section, but sure enough it looks like it's really his mom (Linked to Facebook account with the family). Yeah, you can't always believe what the parents are saying, especially since his dad said yesterday he had no idea his son decommitted shortly before the Charlotte article released that his dad said "Yes, he's decommitting." Still, I think it's fairly safe to say that the kid rumor is thrown out and he's probably leaving to go to UNC for other reasons.

He had all the reasons bulit in. Far from home, girlfriend, hometown U, better depth chart, parent pressure. IF he is expecting it's just another item on the list. IMO he always has been our biggest flight risk.

Really sux that he decommitted, but not too surprising I guess. I'm just very happy that we got GB and Folston last year. We will survive.

Nothing new just another person saying the same thing. THI (Tar Heel Illustrated) was told that by sources that distance and depth chart became increasingly bigger factors.

Too bad if we lose him, but at ND it's Next Man In. Hard for a kid like Elijah to not have tremendous pressure locally to stay local
Fortunately we appear to have good depth at the position already, and lots of time for the coaching staff to recruit a kid who truly wants to be at ND.
We'll be seeing EH down the road anyway with the upcoming games vs UNC.

Tom Loy will have a mini tunnel vision highlighting where we may go from here at the RB position later today. He is making it seem as though he has been given some good info. Starks?

still loving this class

do you guys really realize how far we have come "post Davie-Ty-CW" under Kelly?

as long as BK and his crew stays...we will continue to get solid Top classes.
the recruiting landscae beng what it is these days and the challenges we face at ND its nothing short of a miracle the job these guys are doing on the recruiting trail.

Ultimately its not how good you recruit, its what you get out of the talent.

Loy's tunnel vision makes it seem as though it had everything to do with early enrolling and maybe he got some feedback that he didn't like.

Am I the only one who was curious how Hood would even fit into the backfield with Bryant and Folston? I'm not at all saying he wouldn't have played, it just would have been a tall task to get everyone carries.

In my opinion this program is starting to get to the point where USC was last decade. ND lost a stud RB, big deal, they have others with four years of playing time left and there will be others committing.

"Next Man In" hasn't let us down yet. I have full trust in Kelly's plan. It's nothing short of amazing how even with all of these near-misses, it hasn't stopped the program from marching forward continuously.

I would say how good you recruit is AT LEAST half the battle... but both are obviously important...

I'll be interested to know what exactly occurred that changed his intent so quickly... if it has to do the EE thing I'll be fairly disappointed...

This one player took us from a top five class to barely a top ten class… clearly an important player.

Fournette, Michel, Jones, and Shai Mckenzie probably sign elsewhere. However, there is a major prospect (that BGI won't put out there at this time) that is committed to another team that has regular contact with Nd's staff. Talks to Alford multiple times a week and has made it very clear that he would like to official to ND. Nothing new on Starks.

So when do we get Bo Scarborough?

Sorry, but you made me think of this quote from The Untouchables:

"The surprise is half the battle. Many things are half the battle, losing is half the battle. Let's think about what's the whole battle."

Personally, that's not what I got from reading Loy's update.

Loy himself stated that the bulk of the decision was probably due to distance and family pressures.

I think his parents forced his hand.

I'm impressed with how you guys have taken this. I think this offseason has really made some people revalute their perspective.

After I posted that info he did say on their board that he thinks it was distance from family and girlfriend. As I read his timeline of events its seemed that Hood became distant right around the time he was supposed to be talking to Loy about early enrolling.
