I'm not sure what breaks should be pumped.

We're only on this planet once, so you should feel the imperative to go to the places and be around the people where you can reach your highest level of achievement and will be around the people who will push you to do so. That's part of what parents are supposed to be there for, to help their children understand this and guide them in this regard. His parents are just flat out not doing that if they suggested he go to some football factory where the education is worth next to nothing.

Regarding being an idiot for knocking up someone in high school, that's separate from this conversation about Elijah for now because it's just a rumor, but most people manage to go through high school without knocking someone up or getting knocked up. It's insanely irresponsible from a financial and broader social perspective, and so I don't see the constant need for people to be apologizing on anyone's behalf for having a kid in high school and making it seem like it's ok, when it's not.

1) was that first point basically said yolo

2) So for arguments sake, if this turns out the direction it's trending and he does have a kid on the way, wouldn't he be taking a logical course of a proper functioning parent\adult as you mentioned? You've outlined great points in regards to important functions of parents, but left out the concept that a parent needs to be present in most cases. He's doing exactly would be necessary and the mature decision if it turns out he does have a kid on the way, and just because the choice means he wont be putting on a gold football helmet does not mean its wrong, and in no way shape or form right to attack the kids parents.

3) this is still up in the air since he's "opening it up", but all indication since the beginning of his recruitment is his parents have pushed for a school close to home...ie he's being linked to unc at the moment, which in no way shape or form a football factory

I really could care less about recruiting at this point. All I care about is what Kelly does with who decides to commit in February and how the program progresses towards looking like the Notre Dame I know: Tough, hard hitting, battle you for 60 minutes. I am very pleased so far.

A North Carolina homeboy letting me down. Oh well, saved me a trip to Charlotte.

After 6 years of following this stuff, I just don't care. We'll get our guys.

Not trying to start an argument but a couple of points...

...many people who are young parents are in the military and trade the time they would have with their family for protecting the country and training in a specific field to be put tonuse providing for that family when they come back home

...their are arguments on both sides but it could be argued that going to ND for four years and getting his degree from there would allow him to provide better for his family down the line (see the forty year decision data innnumerous threads) ... not even counting possibly having a better shot at a pro career in football since he wouldnbe able tonshowcase skills nationaly every week

Yep. Bright side? Finding out in August >>>>> February 2nd.

we still have a stomping in Ann Arbor and a beat down of Troy at our place for every recruit in the country to see.

This sucks and I think he's truly elite (even better than Greg Bryant), but there's time on our side on this one.

Yea, there seems to be a lot going on in his life right now. It can be overwhelming. Time's our the biggest advantage, that it is. Alford will continue to mentor the kid during his journey. His situation will become more stable, and who knows maybe he will find a way to make his ND dream come true. Meanwhile, we will win a lot of football games this season which can only help us with recruiting in general. The grass is not always greener, but with this kind of offseason, it has to be. Have faith brothers, especially with all these guys on the team that are working so hard.

I feel you, and there is no greater sacrifice then leaving a family behind to serve our country, but that's an act that falls short of anything college football related. The difference here is hood in his statement recognized he is still learning to be an adult, and he does have the right to a choice, which is a blessing really when a variable of a child is thrown into where you will be playing football/ receiving an education.

It's interesting to watch the process, but pointless to expect the outcome.

To be quite honest, if he wants to continue/start his "journey" in becoming an adult, I would say step one would be in manning completely up and stating why he is backing out of his commitment...Not saying he owes us that, but at least the coaching staff if he is truly gone...If he knocked his girl up, state that...If he just doesn't want to be here, state that...But the difficult decision in this circumstance would be "breaking away from his family" and doing what he needed as an adult...somehow to me, his words aren't adding up to his prior behavior

To be clear, what is an act that falls short of anything college football related?

This is why I said arguments on both sides and yes he has freedom of choice...I am just saying that the life an nd provides needs to make him stop and think

ANYBODY who uses these things surely knows that double wrapping is a huge NO-NO! How many kids do you have? ;) lol

Oh well. ND is pretty stacked at RB anyway.

We will get a good RB this year anyway. Remember we were involved with Bryant till December or so.
