Justin is shorter and faster and plays is a slot WR or Safety prospect. He already has a Toledo offer whereas Drue didn't receive an offer till this spring. At Drue's size though (couple inches taller and a lot heavier) his speed and athleticism might be more impressive.

Engineering is overrated. Give me a coat hanger, two rubber bands, and some duct tape. I can fix dang near anything. When in a pinch, break out the liquid nails. There... a $200k education in a few short sentences.

As far as Tranquill... doesn't he have a lil bro as good or better than him?

I have to admit, I am a bit amused by this. Your entire world has been engineered, including that chair you are sitting in, the CPU you are typing on, the coffee you had this morning, the road you drove to work/school on, the neighborhood you live in, the water delivered to your house and the shits that leave it. Have at least a little respect man....
Engineering is one of the most sought after degrees in the world. Maybe this is sarcasm?

What many people are saying is true, engineering is a difficult major, but not impossible. If he wants to be a mechanical/ structural/ aerospace or something like that, he should not play football or reconsider. There are plenty of engineering fields that are a little more doable for a full time student. And I am sure he can do summer sessions and the school will be fully able to meet his football schedule.

Oh, I'm sure it was a joke. I took it as such.

Come on, everyone knows you don't need a second rubber band. Clearly this was a joke.

This guy's ratings and offers aren't good, but man I think he can play. Local kid with position flexibility? Sign him up.

Really like him in this vid. Don't love his open field speed, but he makes quick cuts for a 200+ kid. Plus he looks to be all of his listed height, which is rare these days.

Thats the camp that Hemboldt from rivals saw him at and basically fell in love, calling him a ball hawking safety.

I'm glad we are finally in race with this kid. Looks to be a great athlete and if we do land him, he should have plenty of time to grow and prep before he has to see the field. I think as a freshman he will be ready to help on special teams from the moment he steps on campus.

the whiteboy safety pipeline at ND must be preserved, he will inherit the mantle from collinsworth and baratti :)

I think Drue will be a player for us. But I feel like we are reaching here at the mike spot

Jaylen Johnson > Drue Tranquill as a MLB prospect IMO. Johnson is already 6'3" 235lb.

Joe Bolden and Alex Anzalone would be really nice right now. Not taking anything from Drue

Bolden is one thing, but Alex did not want to be at ND. Why would you pine for someone who obviously did not want to be here / was looking for an excuse out?

I'd much rather take a kid in Drue who would want to be here, if he does choose to swap his commitment.

Agreed. I like Tranquill as a defensive ATH, but if we're counting on him to be a productive ILB in Diaco's system, we're in trouble.

TJ is kind of walking everybody back from the idea we are recruiting him at ILB. Some guys at II are confused as to why we are offering a 6'2 210lb ILB. His response is we'll know more after this weekend so lets not speculate. We'll have that discussion soon enough. We know we like him at Star S/OLB hybrid and after this weekend where see if he fits other places. Ultimately I think D athlete and let him develop.

Boilers are in trouble if he's hanging with Jaylon.

It makes way more sense that... like most players are recruited... they just like him as a football player and will figure out where he fits best. He's relatively big, fast, and can cover. He could hypothetically play a bunch of different positions. Especially when you consider 4-3 LB positions.

As to Bolden... that was without a doubt a stupid decision pass and probably the worst decision this staff has ever made in recruiting (+1 Heggie has less of a negative impact than -1 Bolden, IMO). That whole class got messed up by the staff passing on players for room concerns and then getting plagued by late cycle decommits and attrition.

Right, I like the offer as a defensive athlete. Based on the article in the Fort Wayne paper, I assume we like him primarily at ILB at this point but may put him elsewhere depending on how he develops physically. I posted this in the "Who is likely next" thread:

Even if he can't carry 240 like we want him to [as an ILB], he could still possibly a) play ILB successfully at a lower weight, a la Luke Kuechly, b) play Star or boundary safety, or c) be a special teams superstar/backup LB like Joe Schmidt. I definitely like the Tranquill offer and hope he commits.

I mean, Dante Booker is only 6'3", 215, and we weren't generally down on him as a possible ILB. True, his most natural position may have been DOG, but it's the same difference, as a DOG needs to be about 240 to be able bang with TEs (at least Councell said he was trying to get up to that weight last year).

Wiltfong likened him to Zeke Motta coming out of HS.
